I am meeting a girlfriend for coffee here in a bit so I should probably get showered. Then picking up DD at preschool at 12. I do need to work on more studying her as well. Also, need to get my walk in.
I just spilled an entire cup of hot coffee all over myself, my walls, my newly cleaned carpet, my phone, and my planner. I hope this is not a precursor for how the day will go!
It's 85 and sunny today, so we will try to get outside. DH it's not a big outdoor fan, even complains that it's too hot when it's 85 in Texas! I told him he's going to have to suck it up because we will spend lots of time outside with DS this summer ( or he will, while I'm inside with the baby!!)
I've shared before that my stepdad had a major stroke last August. He has made progress slowly but surely but it's been a very long road so far, for both him and my mom. He has started walking again with the help of a walker and can walk the length of the house now on his own! It's so amazing to see and totally makes me even more emotional than I already am!

soultrane, that's great news about your stepdad! Post-stroke progress is slow, but definitely achievable with hard work. Regaining mobility is absolutely something to celebrate!
txmommy14, I spill coffee on myself all.the.time. Especially when I'm wearing white and I have an important meeting...
We had a freak snow storm yesterday and today the entire city is coated with a layer of black ice. I walked very, very slowly and carefully to the train this morning. I worked until 9:30 last night and today I have tons of work to do and I can't motivate yet.
Thanks, ladies! It's still hard to wrap my mind around everything considering he was so active before it happened, so seeing him reach these milestones is just amazing!
frecklesnbrains, what is with this weather?!? My entire spare bedroom is littered with maternity clothes because I can't make the full transition between winter and spring clothing!
Signed, the one currently wearing a coat in the office
I am beyond exhausted today and today is a 12 hour day because of a meeting tonight. I got the call yesterday that I failed the glucose test. I fully expected it since I failed the 1 hour with DS too. The 3 hour is just so miserable. Not looking forward to Thursday.
Flair Underwood I feel you on the names. I just want to chose a boy name and a girl name and be done.
frecklesnbrains i am so over the flip floppy weather. Like if it's going to be cold and snowy then let it snow if it's going to be sunny and 75 great but the every other day thing is pure BS.
Flair Underwood, I always felt like boy names are much harder, also. My DH and I will never be able to agree on another boy name again!
soultrane, That's amazing, I am so glad he is making progress!
frecklesnbrains, my family lives in Providence, RI and they FaceTimed me and showed me all the snow-absolutely crazy!!!! I sent my Mom a bragging picture of my sunny 80 degrees, then she said, "you won't be bragging when we are sitting on the beach in 80 degree weather this summer while you're sticky in 105." She's very right.
We spent the morning at the park with a bunch of friends, which was really nice, so it definitely got better after my incident of spilling coffee on everything, thanks guys!
Flair Underwood - my random was going to be we are having a hard time picking a name....but a girl name! The first time around I agree that girl names were so much easier, but now that we already have a girl I'm finding it extremely difficult. We had a boy name because I was sure she was a boy - ha!
My main issue is that I love DD1's name...it's unique but not weird (IMO) and we get a lot of compliments on it. I'm afraid I can't live up to that this time. The names we like are pretty high on the popularity list (and DD1 is not) and I feel bad/weird about that.
I just ended up on June '15 accidentally and was really confused about why we were already talking about first birthday parties!
Got to get that started early. Poor kid might end up with a party at home with only cake and streamers, elsewise. (not knocking those, btw. That's what DD is getting this year for turning 2)

nymama917 Don't feel bad! I haven't checked the social security baby names list yet, but I know our top pick is going to be a top-ten name for a girl, and probably not even a top 200 for a boy. Classic names wear well, in my opinion, whether they are having a surge at the moment or not. Besides, my parents gave me a relatively unknown name that promptly exploded in popularity in the next couple years. You never can tell.
To me, a name is like clothes. It's one form of expression and counts in first impressions, but unless you pick something extreme, a person is who they are and character will quickly dominate how they are viewed. A name won't make my child special, for better or worse. I hope.
Flair Underwood,nymama917,hang in there on names. We were lost coming up with a second boy name because we REALLY love DS's name and everything else felt like a runner up name (because they were when we chose DS's name). We had a short list and were about to go with Lucas Kai, but something just didn't feel perfect about it so we were holding off on making any decisions. Then, out of nowhere we found Ari Lucas and it was settled. It just felt right, whereas Ari hadn't even been on our list before (Ariano was, but not Ari). Just keep brainstorming and keep your eyes/ears open and you'll find something. For us, once we found it, it felt right (both times now).
We're also not using some really great names that I really liked but weren't right: Tadzio (DH veto) Tadeo (too similar to DS's name) Marco (too similar to DS's name) Luca (Too Italian/not spanish) Kai (it was a close runner up and we both like it) Leo (didn't feel right) Talia (girl - but DH veto too) Ariela/Ariella (girl - but DH veto too)
soultrane, That is fantastic! Great that he is doing so well.
I was also in the northeast storm yesterday. My car was frozen shut this morning, I had to actually kick the door a few times. The coffee shop parking lot was a death trap. Anyone finding they are taking a long time to heal? I feel like every bruise and scrape sticks around forever. I am pretty sure the cat scratch on my leg is a month old and it is still bright red. The bruises from my 3 hr GTT are still purple. And my wrist was sore after using the paint roller in the nursery a week and a half ago, and it feels exactly the same as it did the first morning after. So weird! DH and I are still down to two names. I've agreed to let them sit for awhile... We will see if I can get DH to commit in the next couple weeks. It is our second time getting down to two names,we couldn't manage to pick last time and had to start over.

haha, that's what a bday party is supposed to be Cheap and easy and fun!

The girl name we had for DS (had he been a girl) promptly exploded right after he was born too. I wouldn't use it now because it is associated with a pop star and super popular.

I'm curious--would you share the name?
Ariana - it was only #37 in 2014 (Arianna was also top 100), but Ariana Grande has exploded - and we totally realize that ironically, it is similar to the BOY name we actually chose for this LO!
