singingsea I think it's totally acceptable bc 1. It's been 12yrs, that's a long time, and 2. I'm assuming this is your bro's first? When it's that big of an age gap, it's like starting all over again.

+1 that a sprinkle-type event seems fine in this situation. I personally don't have a problem with anyone having a "sprinkle" for a second child (assuming someone other than the mom-to-be initiated it), as they're usually just excuses for close friends and/or family to get together before #2 arrives (at least where I live). With a 12-year age gap, it seems even more reasonable.
I'm working today, and the only major plan for the weekend is potty training! DD announced on Wednesday that she wanted to wear underwear ("no more diapers"), so we are running with it. She's been in underwear at DC the last couple days, and we will continue over the weekend. I was planning to focus on PT once we got through the current home reno/redecorating (scheduled to be complete in early May), but I figure if she's ready, we should go for it.
I think someone on this board mentioned they had a tankless water heater (maybe pismoduo) and I wanted to know if the gas and electric bills when down after it was installed. We're looking into installing one since our water heater needs to be changed.

I have one!
We switched from an electric water heater to a gas tankless at the same time we switched from electric baseboard heat to a gas furnace. Our gas bill went up, because prior to that we'd only had a gas range and a small gas fireplace, but the increase was maybe 15$ a month. Our electric went way, way down, especially in the winter. We went from $200/month in winter to at worst $70/month during the coldest, darkest months (note: we run several servers out of our closet and also have some high energy audio gear we use regularly).

Also, sometimes your utility company has rebates for switching. Definitely ask them.

So, it was definitely worth it.
Thanks! That helps. We're renting it and it would be $5-$10 more a month. Our heat is already gas. The guy is coming Monday to see if we could have one and discuss prices. We have a really old water heater and I'm tired of running out of hot water.
I went to a Bruce Springsteen concert at the last minute last night with my work bestie. (I have undying love for the Boss forever and ever so I couldn't pass it up). It ended at 11:30 so I didn't get to bed till 12:30 am and I got like 4 hours of sleep. Am I actually dead right now, you guys?
I'll just be over here, being all bitter and jealous at your concert going. But seriously, that's awesome.

cassey910 & flyakite thanks ladies! He cried for 3im before going to sleep. I was totally preparing myself for an hr, so, so far so good I guess. He woke up a couple times and cried for a few seconds and went back to sleep. As hard as it is, I know it'll be worth it in the long run. I wanna peek in to make sure he's not sleeping sitting up against the side of the crib.

Last night was s big fail. He woke up a couple more times in an hour span and cried for 5-10 mins. After the last time I had DH ck to make sure he was laying down. He was sitting in the corner of his crib holding his Elmo. DH said it was the saddest sight ever. He wasn't asleep and quickly stood up and freaked out again. Cue tears. I finally caved and DH went in and rocked him to sleep. That was at about 10:30 and he slept until 6.
I read the Weissbluth (sp?) book and started with total extinction. I'm thinking I'll switch to the one where I go in periodically to see how that works. This shit is hard man.
