No plans in dropping them anytime soon. He sleeps about 10-12 hours at night and naps for 2-3 hours during the day (longer naps happen at home, daycare he gets about 2 hours max). Plus no nap days are miserable and the nights seem even worse because he's so overtired and clingy.

No, momma still needs nap time. Though E's are getting shorter. She used to nap at least 2 hours, sometimes 2.5-3. Now I am lucky if she sleep an hour and a half, but sometimes it's as little as one hour.
But she goes down pretty easily, and bedtime has been pretty easy lately. She sleeps about 12 hours a night.
RandomName for a while, the nap was getting shorter and shorter, but the last week or 2 she's been napping 2 hours or even 3 which is basically unheard of for her and AMAZING for me but she's been tough to get to sleep and waking up several times overnight. When I wake her up after an hour, she is super super crabby but it usually does make bedtime easier although she still seems to struggle during the night about half the time. Things are complicated by the fact that she just got over a sinus infection. And that she does preschool 830-1130 a couple days a week. If she is tired, she will fall asleep on the way home and then refuses to take a real nap when we get home, which throws everything off. I've tried everything to keep her awake while driving but some days there's just no chance. In general I do think she still needs a nap, I just hate the idea of waking her up every day.

pearlvirus that tough. DD is similar - super crabby if I wake her up. Also, for us at least we have stints where I think she's dropping naps bc she refuses to sleep but then a few days later it returns to normal. Its usually on days where we don't get outside to burn off some energy. I don't have advice but I hope it's just overcoming being sick or a short lived phase that's throwing everything off.

RandomName it sounds like we are fighting the same fight on several fronts! For some reason I'm hopeful switching to a toddler bed will help. Or at least, it can't get much worse, so let's just get all the transitions over with, eh?
So not ready to give up naps! He sleeps 2-3 hours for nap, usually no later than 3pm. My sleep training book suggests that children this age need 5 hours of wake time between nap and bedtime. This dictates whether I wake him early from his nap.

Haha that how I see it too. Do it all now, be at rock bottom for a bit bc there's only one way to go from there!
DD1 still needs to nap even though she thinks she doesn't lol. She fights it some days but usually naps from about 1230 to 230 or 1 to 3. She goes to bed at around 8 or 830 and gets up at around 730 or 8.

I read this online. The 5 hour threshold seems accurate with DD1.

Dd still takes a nap, but she has to be awake by 3 or it is impossible to get her down at bedtime. RandomName, sorry for you but that is a hilarious comparison.
