In a few weeks we are going to spend a week up north. A few days at my cottage, then we are going to Great Wolf Lodge for a few days and then back to the cottage. So nothing too exciting but at least I am getting out of my town.

Great wolf lodge will be so much fun!
We've never been so I am looking forward to it. I turn 30 the day we check in so I am hoping it will prove to be a good distraction to keep me from weeping the day away.

We are going to a wedding at the end of September in Ocean City, so we're planning on staying a little longer. I'm also planning a trip (probably New Orleans)in August for my 40th birthday.

With DH having foot surgery in a month and having to be off his foot for about 6 (!) weeks, then the baby coming in August, we're not sure. Maybe once DH recovers we'll figure something out. I'm pretty upset about it, actually. I desperately need to get away from home and have a change of scenery, even if it isn't relaxing or peaceful. I contemplated taking the kids myself but I think the logistics will overwhelm. Unfortunately vacationing with my parents is stressful because we just do things too differently.
I need to talk DH into a night at Great Wolf Lodge or a kiddie amusement park that's drivable or something! He is really, really hard to talk into stuff, so wish me luck.

We are attempting travel with 2u2 and I'm a little scared. We are going to my parents' beach house in SC for a week. I am excited! DD1 loves the water, I think she will really enjoy it.
We will be attempting a road trip to grand Tetons with Nora plus 2month old (hoping she sleeps most of the time). We've been there a few times so I think familiarity will help us. I'm totally planning on getting a leash for Nora. I'm not going to fight holding a toddler's hand while we're out and about.
We are totally traveling!! Even when 2u2. We always go somewhere over the 4th. Possibly to Maine this year with maybe a few days in Canada. We love to travel and did all the time pre kids. We definitely go way less now, but we don't let them stop us.

We got a Mommy's Helper harness off Amazon....sorry can't link at the moment ...but it works great!

We are doing weekend things rather than one long vacation this year. One weekend in June, we are meeting my bff and her family in Palm Springs (it's a good half way point) for resort/swimming weekend, then over the 4th, we are going to Dallas to meet our new nephew and attend his baptism and then I go back to Dallas (without kids!!!) at the end of Dallas for my SIL's bachelorette weekend.
We aren't really going anywhere except to visit family.
We actually bought DD a harness/leash at Walmart because she's been getting restless in the stroller when out shopping. It's awesome. She gets so excited to be able to walk around on her own now.
H is supposed to take his 2nd sabbatical (8 weeks off with pay) this year but nothing has been planned yet so we will see. I only have a couple weeks of PTO so no benefit for me really, except a cheaper daycare bill. There is a small possibility we go to Hawaii in the fall or road trip in the RV to Yellowstone. Right now H is focused on buying a new house and by focused I mean obsessed so nothing else is being discussed.
We are going to do 3 days in Milwaukee. A brewer game and a kids activity, not sure what yet. We are also doing a 3 day trip in May to the twin cities so DH and I can ride rollercoasters at Valley Fair and my parents will spend a day at the Mall of America with DS. Then we will go to a Twins game the next day. We do mini trips to get the most out of DHs vacation days.

Usually, we go to southwestern Michigan and love it. This year we went to Florida with my parents for spring break, and we received flight vouchers because of mechanical issues. And, we have friends who have a condo down there. So, they let us use their condo and we are flying down for $200. Ft. Myers, baby!
2u2 here and we're insane and going to San Diego...beginning of June so ds will be 22 months and DD 3.5 months. I am terrified not quite sure what I was thinking, it's a 3 hr time difference. We are taking my mom with us to help. Hoping it's not a complete disaster.

I totally used to judge parents who had their kids on leashes. DS1 was pretty wild, but I could still tame him. So I always just assumed parents with kids on leashes weren't trying hard enough with their kids. LO is just too much of a dare devil that it's just flat out unsafe to not have him confined when out in public. I do believe it's a different story once they're older.

I still keep DS confined to the stroller, but I plan on buying a leash for the beach this summer if we need it. He can be just like a dog, playing in the break of the waves on his leash, ha! Seriously though, certain places and situations are just too dangerous to take any chances. I'd rather him be safe and have fun then us stay home and wait for DH to be around to help. Hell would freeze over before DH isn't working 70ish hours a week, including weekends. So, no leash judgement from me!

Re: leashes. I was leashed as a kid. I was old enough to remember loving it, but that's about it, by the time my parents stopped using it. I loved that I could walk around and explore a little but I knew that safety - aka my mom - was at the other end. I am sure my parents weren't those parents ignoring their kids' bad behavior while we were leashed. I am very pro-leash. If only I could convince DH. Maybe if I remind him a leash is cheaper than a double stroller?

Ask him if he'd rather fight holding a kid's hand while they throw a tantrum in public or....leash. lol.
