GTKY: Things I miss from my childhood- GO!

I miss:

-Being 'bored' (AKA having no responsibilities, just watching tv or waiting for a friend to come over)
-Staying up late because you can sleep in until whenever the next day
- Swimming in the lake

I'm sure there is more... I'll need to keep thinking

Going to the video store to pick out VHS tapes in the summer and for spring break.

I miss sports a lot. Working out was fun. I've never been one to like working out but swim practice was a blast and I was ripped. I mean two hours plus a day and it was fun! Why can't it be that way now that my metabolism is slower?

But ya know- I only had 2-3 periods a year so that would make TTC difficult.

I miss staying up late with my brother playing games and sleeping in the next day on summer vacation. Water balloon fights, beach trips, going to the park... so much fun.

I miss my mom getting me ready to brave the winter cold or a snow ball fight.

I miss watching cartoons in the morning waiting for everyone to wake up.

I miss my childhood cat Mookie. He really was my best friend.

Playing kickball in the street with the neighborhood kids.

Riding bikes until the street lights came on.

Being so excited for Christmas morning and exclaiming "he came!" when I saw the presents under the tree.

Not having any worries!

Yes! My BFF and I would walk to the video store where they did not care about two 11 year old renting cheesy rated R flicks, then having sleepovers and making ourselves terrified with those movies!

I miss riding bikes and playing in the pool all day everyday in during summer vacation.

I also miss that when I was home sick from school, my mom would always bring me a cheeseburger and frosty form Wendy's for lunch.

And I miss my teenage energy and metabolism.

I still eat pudding too!!

This.  So much.  I have students who say they are bored and all I can think is "I wish I was bored sometimes!"

I miss my dad waking us up with Dairy Queen milkshakes after a swing shift on extremely hot nights

I miss when my aunt and uncle would come up to visit in the summer and my cousins would end up staying for weeks.

I miss playing manhunt, building forts, and climbing trees.

Also, school dances, playing "house," staying up all night at slumber parties, and band!

I miss alt of things, esp summer time things:

Chocodiles

Freaking out when the ice cream truck almost passed your house because your mom is too gdamn slow with the money

Watching my after school line up, Kids Incorporated followed by Mickey Mouse Club and also other favorite shows like Truth or Dare and Fun House.

Slip and slides without the pain that is having boobs

When the power would go out in the summer nights (seemed to happen a lot where we were) and my parents/brothers/sisters would sit on the front porch and tell stories to pass the time

Watching my dad and uncles play horshoes on the front lawn or frisbee in the street at 10:00 at night

Watching my dads softball games

Sleeping with our doors wide open with a box fan propped in either door to bring a cool draft in (we were poor like that), no concern of robbers etc

Not caring about bees, mosquitos, beetles and just genuinely enjoying summer nights

Picnics in the back yard complete with a little kiddie pool that us 7 kids piled into

We'd sit in the far back (with seats that faced the driver behind you) and give them the finger, moon them, or make funny faces
