Anyone binge watching on Netflix for MOTN? I need a new show. I know there are so many threads in this, but I can never decide
I'm watching Everybody Loves Raymond right now. I forgot how funny it can be. Plus I don't have to pay close attention which is nice when R gets fussy. I can't watch anything MOTN that needs my full attention.
I don't understand how DH can sleep through all of LO's grunting noises. It makes me irrationally angry.
YES! DH can sleep through crying! It makes me want to just smother DH with a pillow. I've brought a fan into the room to drown out the small noises, and to just help us all sleep better.
wittyandwaiting that was DS last night from 2:30-5:30! Not crying, just wide awake and going through a constant cycle of diaper change-eat-burp-snuggle.
I suppose I really should go back to sleep now that DS is back down...
DH made comments with DD1 about her sleeping so well, he never woke up to her crying even though she was in our room. I practically not his head off once and told him basically to never comment on her sleep because he didn't know what he was talking about.
He seems to wake up when DD2 does, she grunts and doesn't cry but also knows better than to even talk about sleep right now.
DD2 slept from like 1245 to almost 4 so that was nice.
It's so nice to read that we are all going through the same stuff. I mean I hope all our babies start sleeping longer stretches but until they do it is nice to know I'm not alone
I was thinking the same thing. It's nice to chat with other women who are awake at the same time, so I don't feel like I'm the last person left on the planet when we are doing MOTN feedings.

I will have to remember to come in here when I'm up for the 5th time to pee each night!
It's 2am, and I'm starving, and LS is fed, and I should go back to bed, but we're snuggling and I don't want to move. Something something about how babies don't keep - I may understand now why people have more than one. Six days in and I'm already sad thinking about him growing up.
1000 yeses to this. R finished eating 20 minutes ago and I just didn't want to put him back down. I would still be snuggling him if the nurse hadn't insisted I go back to my room to get some sleep. And now I'm up just staring at the live feed on his NICU monitor... They're only this little once and I just want to soak it all in.
@ismellbooks yesterday marked one week since DS was born. I can't even believe it; where did that week go?! I'm more surprised than sad at where the time is going though. Not that I want to wish away this cute newborn stage, but I think it's perhaps because I'm looking forward to the more interactive stage.
I don't know what's in store for the rest of the night but I'm happy with that chunk of sleep.
How long are you comfortable going between feedings? New mom here, and DS is a great sleeper, so I've been waking HIM if he hasn't eaten in 3 hours. Plus I don't know if my boobs could even make it 5 hours haha!
Is anyone else getting milk ALL OVER?! If DS doesn't latch properly right away (almost always), I drip milk all over myself, DS, the couch...I don't even know how to prevent it from getting all over. Shall I just expect to be covered in my own breast milk for the next year?

Only on one side right now, but yikes! I actually pulled my boob out and sprayed him in the face The nurse and I couldn't stop giggling! It seems to depend how long I go for feedings, but either way I've just been taking a cloth diaper and tucking it under that side! Curious about the answer to your other question! We can't go longer than 3-4 hours without waking him because we have to check his sugar, but I keep wondering what would be ok if that wasn't the case...

Yah DS was apparantly "big for gestational age" so for the first 12 hours they had to check his blood sugars, and then I had to feed him, every 3 hours. I guess I've just been sticking to that. I will ask his ped Tuesday at our appt.
That terrifying moment when you are just drifting off to sleep when you suddenly hear what sounds like your kid choking really loud, so you jump off the couch so fast. Then realize it was just the cat retching to puke. Such a relief!

Normally after a few weeks your milk production regulates itself and you'll have much less spraying/leaking.
Good to know! This is a huge reason I've had issues nursing in public. I'm not coordinated enough to hold DS, keep my boob somewhat covered, and also keep milk from getting everywhere!

DS is 2 weeks old today and I feel like my milk is finally starting to regulate. I still keep a burp cloth handy in case he unlatches mid feed, but it's nothing compared to a week ago.

2 weeks 3 days old here and finally not leaking through every shirt at each feeding.
Once I was sure DD1 was at birth weight I stopped waking her but she does a fine job waking up frequently on her own. Well, actually last night wasn't too bad but it was like every 3.5 hours, 4.5 is her longest so far.
Also, I have enjoyed every stage more than the last one. My 3 yo drives me crazy sometimes but she is so hilarious and awesome... that is what gets me through the NB phase, knowing how much easier and funnier they become.

Now that she has surpassed her birth weight and I will let her go on one long stretch of 5 hours each day as long as she still eats 8-12 times a day, and has lots of wet diapers. During the day she's feeding every 2 hours and then cluster feeds either before or after her long stretch.
My boobs are sore after about 4.5 hours but I'm willing to endure it for the sleep. I do end up spraying her in the face sometimes though. Sorrynotsorrykiddo.
