Sorry, jags8. With D, I tried the 5 S's when she was very fussy and it made the world of difference.
What are the five Ss?
I highly recommend the 5 S's. They are from Happiest Baby on the Block, swaddling, side/stomach position, sushing (loud), swining, and sucking. A combination of those saved my sanity with DD. There is a DVD you can watch.
Pain is keeping me awake tonight. I had an all-natural birth and a 1st degree tear with 2 stitches. I honestly felt pretty ok right after birth. I got percoset and Motrin in the hospital to help cramping more than anything. I didn't need ice packs or numbing spray or anything like that.
Last night was gorgeous weather wise and DH was taking the kids for an evening walk around the neighborhood like we do all the time. Tired of missing out, I joined them but wore house shoes to remind myself to go slow and felt like we went at a "browsing target" pace. But it was probably further than I should've gone.
Felt worse than I had but not unbearable afterward. Felt fine this morning. DH went back to work and I'm sure I overdid it a bit with tidying but I felt ok so it's hard to remind myself not to.
Now tonight I feel like someone is hacking my downstairs with a box knife. My bleeding had let up (I'm one week out today) and I noticed it back and very deep red- and coming more from a perineum location than straight V.
I tried a sitz bath and an extra percoset and nothing's helping. I rated my pain after birth (to the nurse) regularly at a 2, id call this a 4-5.
Is it possible I popped a stitch???
Or maybe my body just screaming for me to slow down?
Or am I being a wimp and this is how they feel at a week in the healing process? Burning, ripping pain?? I don't remember this with DD. With DS1 I had ice packs and Dermoplast because I had an epi and a more severe tear, but it was bad from the get go- I'm worried that this just began to intensify so much on day 7.
Anybody else have a noisy sleeper? This baby grunts and whines in his sleep frequently. He stays asleep through most of it. But I don't. I'm thinking it's gas/tummy pains because he also squirms around and pulls his legs up to his tummy. I've tried all the tricks and nothing seems to make it better. Poor guy.
Yup DS grunts a lot. I play a YouTube video on my phone of a fan running during the night to help drown out his little noises.
Omg the pain is getting worse. I'm finding myself basically waking on tip toes because every step feels like I'm ripping my stitches open. I put a call in to my dr, they said I can double up on my pain meds and do all the soothing stuff and she wants to check everything out Monday. I'm just supposed to keep an eye out for signs of infection. I'm so frustrated at myself for overdoing it. I was feeling great, now I feel like I did on day 1 with DS1- worse than I've felt the whole time thus far with DS2. I think I'm going to blame DH going back to work. If I'm home alone with three kids and supposed to be fine for that, I should be able to walk around the block, right? I wish paternity leave was more of a thing. Then I feel bad for whining about a week when my mom and MIL say our dads went to work the very next day.
okiemama, the bleeding can get worse after a few days. I had very intense pain from hemmehroids. I thought I popped a stitch. Luckily, I was in the hospital so the nurse was able to tell me what it was. I also had similar pain when I was home a week later.
The bleeding isn't really "worse" just seems more deep dark red, and more localized right at the perineum spot, if that makes sense.
I had a hemi that was really bothersome like a couple weeks before birth- I was terrified it would go crazy after. I used prep H and got it under control before and didn't notice it at all after. I'm definitely not ruling it out, but how can you tell the difference? Tmi, but no bleeding or pain upon pooping, and the blood is not coming from butt region. I'll feel dumb if it's just a hemi but also relieved to just treat something simple. I don't even want to think about having to get re-stitched...
okiemama I think getting it checked out is a really good idea. I went back to work a week after DS1 was born and didn't get checked out until my 6 week pp appt only to find out my tear was in bad shape. I have no idea if it was anything I did, but I wish I would have been checked out sooner. I hope it is nothing, or at least something they can fix so you feel better.
I told my H about the Windi and he is very against me putting anything up the baby's butt. He even gets mad when I take LOs temp rectally. But I might just get some anyway and do it while H isn't around.
Yes! Mine had the same reaction! I don't understand it at all!
LO Keeps gagging and/or spitting up when he's nursing ... It's almost like he's eating too much too fast... Idk what the reason is. Any suggestions ?
It could just be caused by oversupply or overeating, but if it is happening randomly (not with a letdown) it is a sign of reflux. We were just at the pedi for this last week and decided not to medicate because it didn't seem painful to him.
R slept from 10 to after 4. I ended up waking him because my boobs were achy and leaking and he just looked at me like "what are you doing mom?" It was too cute. I wish I could have gotten a picture.
Thanks you guys! I think that's deff the issue my boobs are literally spraying milk when he pulls off. I will check out that article for sure buttercup ty!
I can hear DH snoring from the couch. I'm so glad I'm not sleeping next to him or he'd probably get shoved out of bed.
DH is next to me snoring away. Currently shoving him into a different position as we speak... If he wakes this kid, I'm smothering him with a pillow...
LO is being difficult tonight. I think he gets gas pains cause no matter how much I burp him he still burps more and I think it irritates his belly. I'm not sure but it's exhausting me
Holy crap DS slept from 8:15-1:15. I wonder if it's the new swaddle wrap I used? It's a big muslin one from Aden and Anais. He's been kicking out of his normal swaddle blankets which I think has been waking him up.

They make a huge difference with my LO, she gets out of anything else.
So I went in to my OB today- I actually considered not going because after all the home care this weekend I was feeling quite a bit better pain-wise and my bleeding had slowed down. I guess it's a good thing I went in though...she said my stitches are infected. :/
