Has anyone else been diagnosed with GD? I didn't pass my two hour glucose test and have met with a nutritionist to attempt to control with diet. I'm doing ok, but this is new for me. I didn't have it with DS.
Anyone else?
Technically I have diet controlled type 2 or borderline, but pregnancy really increases it. I can probably answer any questions you have.
The biggest thing to remember is that you will probably go back to normal after delivery. I was on an insulin pump with DS and the day after delivery I was testing in normal limits and was able to go off insulin. So even though this sucks, it's not forever.

I had GD with my first pregnancy and take my test next week, so I won't be shocked to have it again. Mine was also diet controlled last time. It honestly isn't that bad, especially if you follow the diet carefully. For me, it meant 5 finger pricks a day and a weekly NST at MFM. The nutritionist I met with was helpful.
The scariest thing were the few days I was diagnosed before my next appointment. I felt so unprepared and guilty no matter what I ate because I wasn't sure if I was hurting my kid. It really stressed me out.
Once I had the tools, it was just a matter of the new routine and a bit of extra planning to pack snacks and meals. And I spent 12 weeks craving a cherry slurpee I couldn't have.

I had it last pregnancy. I somehow passed this time. Last time, 4 finger pricks a day. Needed a 120 or lower. Mine was diet controlled too. I got u/s every 4 weeks too. Once you get going on the diet, I'm happy to share food and snack ideas!
I'm doing gold so far with the diet, but majorly craving a can of regular Coke. Soon enough, I suppose.
I think I'll be starting insulin at night next week, but waiting for Doctor to decide.
I think they make no sugar added Coke. I know they do for Sierra Mist. I drank that too. Isn't the best taste, but a little variety. Also propel water!
Some low carb/sugar options: No sugar added jelly
Dream fields pasta!!!! Made for people with diabetes, add some ground beef or turkey to the sauce, some veggies and eat in the right portion. Perfect spaghetti dinner!
Unsweetened apple sauce
No sugar added syrope with an eggo whole wheat waffle with peanutbutter. Great for breakfast!
Cheese crackers with peanutbutter (great snack)
Graham crackers and grapes (great snack!)
No sugar added ice cream with melted peanutbutter ( night snack if your numbers are still good in the am)
String cheese
Brown rice if you want rice instead of white...just do the right portion and your carb count.
I ate sunchips (figure out your portion) as a snack with a fruit.
