My little guy hates being burped! He fusses the entire time and crawls up my shoulder. Any advice on this? He gets a lot of air I can even hear it when he is nursing. He has an aggressive suck and I have a a strong let down. I need dorection there too. It's very difficult to get him completely burped in the middle of the nignt and he ends up back up 10 mins later. I'm exhausted!! Any thoughts or ideas? Greatly appreciated!

I put my little guy on my knee and hold him under his arm and around his chin and pat, rub his back. I was also told if you rub lightly with your thumb and forefinger the base of the back of his head slowly. Good luck!

I would suggest laying him on your lap to burp him. My little guy has recently started this climbing up the shoulder thing, so I'm about ready to switch over. I've also tried sitting him up and forward a bit, supporting his head - that works fairly well, too.

We've got this same problem. Strong let down, and I can hear him swallow the air. He's got lip tie and tongue tie, so this attributes to it, causing him to have a shallow latch. I've got to really get him latched good for him to not swallow as much air. Do you know if your lo has a lip or tongue tie? Your pedi, or a LC can look for you if your unsure.
Anyway, as far as burping, I usually sit him upright, I hold his chin with my two fingers *thumb and pointer* or. ... whatever is more comfortable for you. And I pat his back, and rub his back.
Read somewhere that some babies don't burp much so what I do is if she doesn't burp I just makes sure I keep her in the burping position by at least 15 mins after nursing
I sit Owen upright to burp, I get a burp about 50-60% of the time. He is bottle fed. I try for about 10 minutes to burp after a feed and I try to get a burp in the middle. After the infamous volcano of breast milk puke I try very hard to burp him.

I have the most luck just sitting M and patting his back. Dh likes to put him on his shoulder and pat his bum. Our doctor also suggested sitting him and bending him forward and then leaning him back. Doing this about 5/6 times. She suggested picturing the air bubble as a bubble in a construction level and that if it was there this would get it worked out by this.
G hardly burps when we try. So I just keep her sitting up for up to half an hour and she does it on her own. If she doesn't at all she never cries from the extra gas.
