Since it's slow... Do you think you could live in a tiny house?
I could probably do a small house but I don't think I could do a real tiny one. I love the whole concept of minimizing debt and your carbon footprint to live more simply.

I totally could if it was just me and H. With kids it is different. I see them and my first thought is how do you have sex? You have very little privacy. I'm ok with small but not that small. It has been very nice to declutter after moving. You really evaluate what you really need and what you can do without.
Absolutely not with little kids. H works nights and they are pretty rowdy during the day while he's sleeping. I can only imagine it would be 10x worse in a tiny house.
After H watched the show on netfliNetflix about it he was convinced. I didn't watch it but quickly explained how it wouldn't work with littles.
I can totally see us doing it once the kids are out of the house. But then they usually eventually come back at some point. Maybe not.
I feel like I live in a tiny house! It's hard with kids, but I would love to declutter my house to the point that I would be able to live in a tiny house. I feel like we just have so much crap. I really want to get rid of stuff. Like now.

I felt like we were living in a tiny house before we moved. No way I could actually go tiny, especially with kids. I always feel bad for the pets too. I've seen so many dogs that have to navigate up to a loft.
Before we bought our house we lived in a 700sq ft apartment. It was actually a big place for Brooklyn standards. If we'd stayed there any longer there would have been a homicide. In the end I hated it. It was great for just me and h but with two kids, a cat and a dog it was unbearable.

I live in just over 1000 and I'm ready to kill someone. Nope nope nope. 5 years of 3 people of this and I'm dying. And I know every storage trick in the book and I've purged everything. No way ever.
DH and I lived together in about 680 SF for 5.5 years and it never felt small. With the proper layout and storage I am sure we could have lived in a smaller space. BUT now that we have kids, there is NO way! Mama needs her own space!

This is me too. I just want to purge and keep things more simple but H loves things. He always wants to upgrade when things still work and I feel like I can't get out from under the junk. Living in a tiny house would be awesome to re-evaluate the important things but there is no way I could do it.

Yes! We've accumulated so much stuff since moving into our house. Filling rooms, closests, and the garage with things just because there is room. I think a smaller space would definitely push you to evaluate what's you really need and enjoy in your life. I'm also trying to purge and minimize.

I would love a tiny house if it were just my H and I. With kids, it just doesn't seem possible. However, we have less than a thousand square feet right now, and I would feel comfortable going smaller. Maybe when the kids move out, we'll get a tiny house. I've only seen one Tiny House show, but I would love to see more, especially some featuring family with kids. Who knows, maybe I'd reconsider
When I was in Tanzania, we visited some families who lived in huts. One was tiny, and I mean tiny (maybe 100 square feet), and six people lived there. There was obviously no toilet, but all the "beds" were placed around the "common area" and it sort of seem to work. However, they pretty much only used the hut to sleep. They cooked in the hut but usually ate outside, and there was no "furniture".
So maybe if I lived somewhere where we could basically live outside, I would consider a tiny house even with kids. Maybe we could move to Guatamela and get a tiny house.
No, I don't think so. Not with kids anyway. I do feel like a pack rat sometimes, and I know I could get rid is loads of things... But I have a hard time doing that sometimes.
I'm no where near a hoarder though!
I could definitely downsize after the kids were older, but not that small!
I would do it, but not with kids. I feel like with a tiny house, it would feel like a permanent camping trip (since its essentially the same size/thing as a trailer). I'm sure we'd just spend a ton of time outside. There's just no way it could happen with kids though. We would kill each other.

So H and I lived in a 500 SqFt apartment when we first moved in together. We hated it and each other. Nooope. Nope nope nope. I don't need a lot of stuff, but I need space to move around and it was not pleasant. Hard pass.

See I feel like most campers are bigger than some of the tiny houses I've seen on shows! Maybe they just look smaller.... But I could maybe retire in one of those buses or large campers.

I feel like they are getting smaller and smaller now that the show is popular. When we first started watching I would say they were trailer sized or slightly bigger now people are hauling their houses with a car! Well at least on a trailer.
My bff actually just bought one. I call it the fairy house. They are still looking for a place to park it I could NEVER live in a shoebox like that! I neeeeed space... H and I are currently on opposite sides of the couch

You'll have to give us updates on how she likes living in it. I'm guessing after the first month it will lose its appeal. Is it just her and her SO? I'm so interested to hear how it goes.
www.tinytreasurehomes.com/uploads/4/8/3/2/48325005/5674772.jpg?525 They haven't move in yet, they live in LA and there's some crazy rules about where you can park those things. They are newlyweds and haven't really had their own place in like a year, so I'm sure its going to be heaven for at least a couple months. They are hoping it will allow them to live bi-coastal to watch the nieces and nephews grow up.

There are definitely a lot of campers that are bigger. I think tiny houses are usually designed more "upward" with a bed usually in a tiny loft area, where some campers actually have a "bedroom". I feel like the idea behind the tiny house and campers are pretty similar: a) they're moveable and b) really designed that you probably aren't spending a ton of time inside.
I definitely think the trend right now is to see how small they can actually make these tiny houses.
