Where are you in the adoption process? Any updates? What's been going on in your life lately? Any fun plans coming up?
I don't know how many of you remember me. I'm so sorry for not updating sooner. Provosts stopped working and I didn't know tapatalk was a thing!
Quick synopsis since I'm at work typing from my phone. Feel free to pm me or post below if you have any questions!
We were matched with our birthmom in August. I attended all her dr appointments with her including the sex reveal. She gave birth to our little man in January. We all shared the hospital room together. It was birthmom, baby, my husband, myself all cozy in the room for 3 days. I'm so blessed we were matched with such an amazing and strong and sweet birthmom who let us share the entire pregnancy journey with her.
Our little man was born on January 11th. TPR was on February 17. We are doing post placement visits now and hoping things will be final in January or February. It's been such an incredible journey.
And because I have to AW... Here's a newborn photo and a photo from yesterday.
badgergirl66 - your little guy is so cute! Thanks for starting the April check-in.
We are doing well with our foster sons. They have been with us for almost 8 months now! It's looking more and more likely that their case might head to adoption someday, but of course there are no guarantees with foster care, and we won't know for sure for quite a while. The boys haven't had a visit with their bio parents in almost 2 months, and their bio parents aren't showing a lot of interest or progress lately on their services. So as always, we continue to wait and see what happens, and try to cherish every day we have with these boys.
Our 9 month old recently figured out how to crawl, so he's all over the place now. He loves to pull to stand, and we think he will be walking in a month or two! Our 2.5 year old is so verbal now, and its a lot of fun to talk with him. We'll "officially" start potty training with him soon, and I'm terrified for that process but excited at the idea of only having 1 kid in diapers.
I'm going on a trip to Italy with my parents next week, and H will be staying home with the boys and dogs. I know he will do a great job but I'm sure it will be overwhelming and exhausting for him without me there to help. So please send prayers and good wishes his way!
ceejay that's great that the boys are doing so well. FX potty training goes well..just remember consistency, patience and A LOT of humor! Have an amazing time in Italy!!
As for us, I already AW our update this week, but because I'm an AW I will again! We received our court adoption paperwork this week that our adoption has been finalized! (official date was March 30). We are planning a party mid May to celebrate! We feel so blessed to have this beautiful little man in our lives! And I reflect back, it was almost exactly one year from adopt ready to finalization! Definitely one of the best years of my life!

badgergirl66, congratulations, he is absolutely beautiful!!!
ceejay, glad everything is going well with the boys! Good luck wth potty training...I think that's what terrifies me the most about parenting. Potty training just seems like hell on earth.
redandblue, congratulations on finalizing, and I love that photo!!
As for us, like I mentioned in another post, we just finished our home study. We are now just waiting to be matched. So far, we've bought a car seat, just in case it happens quickly. I'm so ready for this to happen, but I know I need to be patient. It's hard.
ASM: we are waiting on the last of our references to get in to move forward with the next step for foster care of interviews and home study and will be doing week 6 of 8 of our trauma class this week-May 24th is the last class date. So slowly but surely we are getting closer to being licensed.

We had an eventful month! B's birth mother has recently been reaching out and sharing a lot more than she usually does, which has been interesting and hopefully good for her. She recently moved in with her sister who lives in our town, and I'm thinking we may need some firmer boundaries due to that situation soon.
J is continuing to flourish in our home. We are still working on getting all of his therapies set up and medical tests done so we can figure out if most of his delays, etc. are from neglect or if there are additional causes factoring in. His parents haven't shown up to their bi-weekly visits since early March. Currently they are at the point where they have to call the CPS CW by 9:30 the morning of the visit to confirm or else their visit is cancelled. That is what happened last week. Next court date isn't until June 15, but CASA has mentioned that CPS is leaning toward asking for mediation & relinquishment or early termination if parents won't agree to that. All home studies done on family/fictive kin at this point have resulted in no viable options for placement for J, so in the event that his rights are relinquished/terminated, we will most likely be adopting him.

gnomesweetgnome. What a very eventful month indeed! That's great that you have had more contact with B's bm! And very exciting to think about adding another member to your family permanently. I know it may be premature, but FX all goes smoothly and in J's best interest!

EEK....our last reference has been received and they will be turning it over to a foster care licensing worker. They are going through some turnover so it might be a little bit to actually get interviews scheduled but there are a couple pieces of paperwork that we can fill out and get back while we wait so will get going on that.
Cue freak out that we are on to the next step!!!!!
