That sounds amazing kleigh!!!! I'm not sure what I would do if I had a bakery like that so close by!
I also read your post wrong at first starbuck27 and thought you literally threw cookies at your son when he misbehaved. The image in my head was great, but I couldn't understand why you were wasting cookies like that! FWIW I despise any and all articles like that. I didn't get timeouts as a kid bc my mom counting to two was enough to make me stop in my tracks, but my brother and sister? They had designated spots with indentations of their hineys on them they were there so often.
My parents spanked. After my round I would shout "that didn't hurt!!!" And then when they looked at me, furious, I fucking ran for my life.
But I always said it again next time. Because I'm not smart.
ETA: Ran for my life is way too strong. I just didn't want more spanks.
That is hilarious!!! I'm not sure running for your life is worded too strongly...my Mom had a look that could stop my heart.
Uo? I prefer macaroons over macarons. Well my first choice are Chocolat chip and I have a bag of Tate's bake shop cookies right now that I'm demolishing...
Not UO...I'd take both. I'm very much non discriminatory when it comes to anything edible. Food is life in my book.
I didn't even realize that macarons and macaroons were different when I used macaroon in my post. Apparently macaron and French macaroon are the same thing though. I was talking about those lol
Lol I had to google. The other variety sounds good too!

Get it rory5280!! Those 3 classes will be over before you know it and if there's tuition benefits I would jump on it fast. It might suck, but you got 8 weeks.

Our OR RN quit today. It's a hard spot to fill and I'm not sure how long it'll take to fill it so it looks like I'll be stepping in. I despise the OR with a fiery passion. Not because it's hard, because once everything gets going it's soooo boring and I hate the feeling of the mask on my face. It's not a big deal when fill in because it's only once in awhile, but today was 8 hours of straight surgery. It was full anesthesia day so the patients were sleeping and the anesthetist was of the don't talk to me variety. Going from a full on run like I'm doing every other day to having a 2x2 sq foot area to stand in was rough. There was really no need to rant about this, I guess I just needed to vent.
Girl I've had a bump since I first found out. Still don't know if it's bloating or not but definitely visible. I'm 12 weeks Monday. You have one too?
Are we at the point of HDBD next week?
I was thinking about starting one this week, but next week definitely. It's dead around here anyway. There are likely to be at least a couple small bumps, and a few more blumps.

Just saw the good news on GKU's TWW. I've always lurked that board and her loss was within weeks of mine so this is news I was hoping for oh so bad. These are the moments when I wish I would've grown a set so much earlier and introed forever ago. Tears running down my face I'm so happy.
Re the macaron macaroon convo, I didn't realize there was another kind of macaroon (thought just the French macaroon aka macaron). But now that I google I've def seen those before too

I definitely had to Google them. I thought they were both spelled macaroon. I have always pronounced them the same way.
My H and I got macaroons when we were in Paris because that's what you are supposed to do right? We don't speak French, only please and thank you. So I was pointing at the ones I wanted (purely based on color). Apparently they make savory macaroons because all of the ones I picked were terrible! I'm pretty sure the orange one was salmon flavored because it had dill on it!
Gag. I hope you also ate tons of chocolate croissants, baguette and cheese sandwiches, and croquet monsieuers/madames. Oh and crepes with Nutella.

The first thing I was brave enough to order in French was a crepe w Nutella and whip cream! I'm sure I butchered the pronunciation but the guy got it! It was delicious!

I still don't know if it's baby or wheat belly from all the carbs I've eaten lately but I might be ready for HDBD next week. Maybe I'm just in denial still. I haven't taken any bump pics yet.

I realized the picture I took last week was a "constipated" bump so I'm back in the no bump zone..but bump or not it's good to have a baseline to compare against, so take some!

I keep meaning to but I'm never wearing anything cute that shows it off. I'm still trying to hide it at work with loose fitting shirts and at home I get right back into my PJs haha. I'll try to take one this weekend before I'm past 12 weeks.
Wait. She doesn't mention anything about throwing cookies at children in the article. That was a strange comment...?
I'm pretty strange.
starbuck27 , it was a strange comment about an article that you admitted that you didn't read. Not strange in a fun, quirky way. Why did you make that comment?
ETA: Just to be clear, we use time outs in our house. As I mentioned, I found the article itself very unconvincing, but I also believe everyone has to do what works best for their child(ren) and families. I don't disagree with your sentiment, but I was just wondering why you made a comment about throwing a cookie at a child for misbehaving, since the article really has nothing to do with that. I was just wondering if it was part of another discussion somewhere or something?

So I guess I'm speaking to the whole "it's all gotta be positive redirection" sentiment that's going around.
I didn't literally me throw it at them. I just mean that I'm not going to bribe my kids into good behavior with toys and treats, particularly if they are engaging in behavior that is or could harm themselves or others. Like if my kid punches another kid, I'm not going to say "hey instead of hitting, let's eat cookies!" There's going to be some consequence, probably a discussion of why it's wrong, making him apologize, and perhaps a time out That's all I meant.
Yeah, the interesting thing about the article is that it didn't really give any constructive ideas about what TO DO. It basically just said no time outs, they are bad, bad, bad. Which I don't personally agree with, at least not for us.
Personally, I am more in the camp of negative punishment being the most effective disciplinary tool -- taking away something for bad behavior. But I see what you were getting at, I was just confused about the cookie for bad behavior.

I made an ETA in my last post about why I made the assumption.
I feel like everyone has to make this decision of what works best for their kids. I do have an issue with removing all consequences, because I feel like if kids aren't raises knowing that actions lead to reactions and that not all behavior is acceptable, they're going to be less able to deal with the real world as adults.

I absolutely agree. 110%.
And to go a step further, I think that treating children like they can do no wrong is far more damaging to that child and society as a whole than 2 minutes in time out will ever be.

So...my stomach never flattened back out and I totally now have a nice round bump since the pelvic area is catching back up. I look similar to how I did at this point with L, I think. I thought about taking a bump pic this morning because it looked so nice and not lumpy. By the evening I look about 5 months, though. Lol.
