I wouldn't actively choose or avoid the letter D. I'd just pick the name I liked regardless of letter.  My two kids and I have names that begin with the same letter; it was not intentional and I don't care.

I would avoid another D name. It's weird when the whole family matches.

My cousins and their first child all have exactly same initials. I think it just happened that way. For their second they tried to find a name that resulted in the same initials but they could not, so they went in alphabetical order from the initials.

Their initials are all A-L and the second child has B-M as the initials. I asked about a third and they are seriously considering with names beginning with C-N.

I would also avoid D names. DH and I have different initials. Our DD's first name starts with an S (which is different than DH and I) and I still wouldn't pick an S name for this baby because the two kids both starting with S would bother me/be weird to me.

Four out of the five names in my family start with the same letter. DD has mentioned it before but more as something she noticed and not something that she felt strongly about one way or the other. We did not plan on it being this way but those were the names we loved and could not agree in anything else. If you love it go with it.

For me, it would depend on if I planned to stop at two kids or not. If only having 2 I might try to use another D name (if there was one I liked) so that they weren't the only one with a different initial. If I planned to have 3 or more I would definitely choose a different letter so I wasn't stuck with having to find another D name the next time around, and because there would be more "non-D" names to balance it out.
