Poor Owen can't catch a break. Now we're starting to have some eczema flare-ups that we're having a tough time healing. DH and I have never dealt with this before. We've been using Aveeno eczema therapy lotion on him and only bathing him every two or three days. Anyone have any tips or helpful products?
Have you tried coconut oil or Aquaphor? They won't make it go away, but can make it less dry and flaky. Warm, not hot baths. Don't bathe every day. And make sure you use a cream (in a tub), not lotion (in a bottle). Creams are thicker and more protective.
I would also see if your pedi can prescribe something if it gets really bad. I've had eczema for years, and Rx are the only thing that really help me.
When we saw the allergist for the peanut allergy, she addressed the eczema too. She said to use fragrance free detergent with an extra rinse cycle and not to use dryer sheets (even fragrance free ones) for all laundry in the household. No bleach.
Luke warm baths, pat dry and moisturize. We switched to Johnson's Natural head to toe and we still use baby Aquaphor, because we have a lot of it. We also stopped using scented lotion during the day on ourselves - also, not perfume, cologne or anything else that is scented strongly.
When it is bad we use hydrocortisone cream 1% and we've never used anything for the itching, but she said we could use Zyrtec 1/4 tsp.
I'd say T's skin is a lot better in the week and a half we have made changes. We are also going to keep her away from dogs and cats as much as possible, since she tested positive for that and I don't want to see if it flares her skin up.

My son also has it and the dr prescribed some prescription strength hydrocortisone cream to use during flareups and told us to use curel, aveeno, or eucerin lotion on him everyday. We chose curel bc it said safe for babies 6 months and up and is recommended by some eczema board. We only bathe him a once or twice a week and all that together has really helped. Everyone have you some great advice! Oh and I second that about using dye free laundry detergent.
Thanks for the advice ladies! We've been doing some of these already, like the -free laundry detergent, but I'll be sure to try some of the other things out. He has his 1 yr appointment soon so if some of his spots aren't better by then we'll look into a prescription.

Something I forgot to add is that Hayden had awful eczema for the first few months. The CeraVe lotion completely cured it! It was recommended by the pedi.
