I would love to get some feedback on the name Isabel/Isabelle. I feel like it got too popular about 5 years ago, but I haven't heard of anyone to using it very recently. I think it's a beautiful name, and I love the option of Izzie as a NN, but am hesitant because of popularity.
Our style is feminine, sweet, and traditional. A cute NN is a plus but not required. DD's name is Violet.
We find out in a week if we're having a boy or a girl, but our boy name has been set since before DD was born. Girls names are so much harder for us to agree on!
I think Isabel (I prefer this spelling) is very pretty. It might be popular, but it's a classic name and not just trendy. I don't actually know any Isabels.
Isabella has dropped from number 1 in that time, but only to number 4. Isabel dropped from 110 to 136...so yes it's less popular. It does appear to have peaked for all related names, too. So it's on the downward trend, but is still in wide use. I personally wouldn't use it yet, but none of my names are in the top 100...so I may have a different standard.
Isabel isn't super popular but Isabella is. It fits the bill of sweet, feminine, and traditional. It's up to you whether it feels too popular. I would use a name I loved knowing it was popular but that doesn't bother me as much.
Violet and Isabel is an adorable sibset. Go for it
That's what I think too! DH is more concerned about popularity than me, but otherwise likes the name. Hopefully next week we'll find out the sex and then we'll know if we need to discuss it further.

I love it enough to not give a damn about popularity. Isobel is my favorite, but DH loves Isabelle so that's the one that's the one that's on our list.
I've loved Isabel(le) for years. I personally like it better than Isabella. The popularity would give me pause, but if you can't find another name you LOVE then I wouldn't let that hold me back (since it's a classic/popular name, not a trendy name).
