I like it but v v strong HP association for me (along with 'Loony Luna' taunt from the books). Also I have multiple friends with cats called Luna! But the HP connection will fade I guess with the passing of time.

Dude, no. HP is everlasting! Lol In all honesty though, I think HP will be around for quite a bit longer. They just come out with an illustrated version of the first.
Love Luna so much. Strong Harry Potter connection, but I love the character too. I named my dog Luna, but I would have no problem giving it to a little girl.
This is gonna be real cheesy, but I am completely and utterly obsessed with Harry Potter. Therefore I LOVE Luna. It was on my list, but we settled on other, less prominent, but equally important Harry Potter character names: Theodore and Penelope
I love Luna. I love the Harry Potter character and how she is sort of head-in-the-clouds and quirky, but has so much inner strength and peace. One of the few female characters from HP with a name I really like (Minerva? Delores? Genevra? No thanks!)

I think Luna could work as a mn with pretty much any fn, as long as it's not a syllable -a ending name, such as Thea Luna. That sounds a bit sing-songy to me. Also, names ending in -names. Evangelina Luna also sounds sing-songy.

Yeah. A lot of our front runners end in a, so all I can think of from our list is that doesn't sound weird is Catherine Luna.

Now I want to know if people are pronouncing Luna differently or tuna because I can't imagine them not rhyming. I also can't imagine a different way to say either one.

Tuna has a diphthong. Tee-oo-na, only the ee and the oo aren't separated. Luna doesn't. Loo-na.
I want to know whether people are saying Leeoona or toona, because both sound weird to me!

In basically anywhere in the US, people are pronouncing Luna and tuna as "loo-na" and "too-na."
Tomato tomato. Even if Luna rhymes with tuna, what does it matter? Names rhymes with other words. NBD. Other than anal. Don't want a name that rhymes with anal.

I don't really want to push the thread up, but I just wanted to post if you are interested because I think hearing it would clear it up. You can hear how we say it if you look on this link for tuna (RoseJ is the clearest one from the US, imo): Forvo
