As we have been going through our (limited) options for how to set up our tiny house when LO gets here, DH and I have been considering more seriously the possibility of having DS and LO share a room. We have a three bedroom house but the idea of giving up a playroom (which is literally the one saving grace that keeps the rest of the house from being overrun with all things children) is kind of killing me. DS will be almost 3 when LO is born and planning to keep baby in our room for at least the first 3 months. Has anyone else done this? DS is a great sleeper now, literally sleeps 12 hours a night without any issue plus 2-2.5 hour afternoon nap. So I'm a little nervous to mess with a good thing. But I also know kids share rooms all the time right?!
We also have 3 bedrooms but use one as a guest room. Because we live "away", my parents come to visit a lot. The guest room already isn't ideal, so I would like to at least leave them some privacy when they come. We also have other family and friends visit too. So I feel like we would be messing up set up and routines a lot if we had the guest room share with toddler. Just doesn't make sense.
My sister room shared recently with her youngest two. She said it worked out fine. The older one (who was 3 when baby was born) usually slept through any nighttime wake ups. However, they never did any sleep training so any time baby woke up, my sis just fed him. I dont think they night weaned until at least 1 1/2. I will def be doing some sleep training after 6 months, so that worries me.
My other sister has all 3 of her kids share a room. They strongly believe is bed sharing and feeding on demand, so again, didn't really have uncontrollable crying issues. Even at 5, their youngest still goes into their bed at some point on most nights. DNW to share a bed like that.
Sorry, as I read this, I realize my 2 examples are probably not helpful at all, haha.

Thanks hangry! We will definitely do sleep training at some point (probably about the same time as with DS, around 4-5 months) so that's a concern for me as well.
Following. We are currently in a 2 bdrm and could be headed to room sharing unless we move. I think it'd be fun eventually....just the baby stage seems really scary to figure out.

@starbucks27 we had our son in our room for 9 months until we upgraded to a 2bdrm. Our bedroom is smaller and the rooms are cold in the winter, so I'm not loving that idea in this apartment.
MH I think is getting serious about house shopping..but that will require being grown ups and making some big decisions.
