Daily Info Tidbit

Naming Baby: Many unusual names are difficult to spell or pronounce because people are unfamiliar with them. This does not necessarily mean that you should not choose a unique name that you love on the basis that it could be difficult to spell or pronounce, but when ranking names, it is a factor to consider. Similarly, creative spellings or pronunciations of popular names will have your child constantly correcting those that mistake it with its more popular counterpart.

Aw, thank you for asking! I find myself in third trimester and wondering how I got here. I'm starting to seriously realize the exit strategy of this situation. I'm so grateful that I got a doula.

We have a girl name. We're about 90% on the boy name. Middle names are set (family names) but we're kicking around the idea of two middle names. I'm not sure I want/can do this again so I feel strongly about putting both families in there. We'll see.

Well, as a mama who will probably only have the one son, I wish I had used two middle names for him. I'm really disappointed to not use my father's name for a child. We tossed around the idea of two mns for HC, but decided not to, and I wish I did.

Ahh - this is helpful. I'm worried I'll regret not honoring my family if we have a boy (boy middle name is from my husband's family). My husband is less keen on two middles. I think after he sees me birth a child, though, I'll have more leverage.

Aaand - since I know you're curious. Girl name is currently #957 on the SSA. Boy name is not in the top 1000 but was a certain kid who enjoyed Turkish Delight in Narnia.

I feel weird outwardly saying the names right now. After the childbis born, I'll talk more openly about our choices. I love both names so very much. Part of me will be sad to not use one or the other.

It's funny you mention labor, because signing his birth certificate, my H was like, "whatever you want." Haha. I did end up using my dad's name as part of my pen name. Maybe one day I'll get published and get to honor him that way.

I love both your names! Although I went to the SSA list and first saw the #957 for boys instead of girls and thought you had lost your mind.

I love both those names! That girl name is high on my list but I don't think H would go for it.
