Holy whoa that was overwhelming!! DH was over it in about an hour, so I will have to go back on my own to finish up the registry or just finish it online.

Oh wow, how have you waited this long??? The first time DH and I went into BBB, we almost fainted there was so much stuff, so BRU seemed less intimidating when we went there a few days later. But yeah, all we could think is "do we really need all of this stuff for a tiny human?"
DH still feels slightly short of breath after every time we go in...
Yes! The first time we went in to start looking at the bigger items we ended up just leaving in like 5 mins and said we'd revisit in a couple weeks! So much stuff and so many choices. I did most of my registry online, going tomorrow to the store to finish up!
I was in the same boat! My husband was awful to have with me and I feel like we got nothing done! I too will be returning solo...or at least not with him =)
DH and I tried twice to go in and ended up walking out within 20 minutes. My mom came with us when she was here and we were able to get our registry started (ended up being there for 2 hours)then I just finished up the little things online.
My mind is hazy now on whether we had 1 or 2 actual visits to BRU, but either way, it all happened in the weekend immediately preceding the big "sploosh." Just setting up the registry at the desk was exhausting. Did that take everyone about 2 hours, or was our sales rep particularly slow? By the time we were done getting set up, I remember feeling like we were really ready to leave - but I can't remember if we forced ourselves to put some items on the registry, of if we went back the next day.
I do know that while picking out car seats, we asked about 3 different sales reps questions before settling on a choice. We then asked 2 more questions as we picket out a compatible double stroller. In fact, I think we stopped someone to ask a question in just about every department we visited.
We're just as bad with the on-line editing. Every time we pick an item we need to compare specs, and product reviews for different brands and models, and then search for reviews on independent sites. It's a miracle that there's anything at all on our registry. (Although, we've already bought most of the items we registered for ourselves. You don't think the babies will need anything like, clothing, do you? Hmmmmm.... maybe I should go back and add some things).
We went to the store to register (free goody bags!!), but I did most of our registry online. I wanted to do some research and get reviews on items and DH wasn't being very helpful anyways...he just kept playing with the scan gun. I have spent more time than I'd like to admit putting our registry together.
IFinTN - I can't believe you held out this long-props to you!
amshark - the lady that did our registry typed at snail pace, but she had to be at least 60 years old.

We registered at BRU today too. It was overwhelming and completely exhausting. I went home and finished a good portion online because it was just easier for me.

I can't handle those stores. We've gone in a couple of times to look at things in person, but I think we've only bought 1 or 2 things, and I've walked out near tears every time. I'm trying to be simple about what we get for the baby, following the advice of people who say, "You really don't need any of that stuff." I mean, Little Girl won't be sleeping in a drawer, as she does have a crib, PnP and RnP, but whenever I go in there I see 100s of little stupid things that appear on face value to be essentials. Like covers for faucets in the tub so that you don't whack the kid and draw blood. A foam mat for me to kneel on while bathing baby. Or specially designed car seat covers, when a blanket will do just as well. I did the registry almost entirely online, researching as I went. We used Amazon so that I could add things from specialty and local stores.
We also started crazy early (after the NT scan, I think), which in retrospect I'm glad about bc I keep running across things that we need to do before baby gets here that we haven't done yet (interviewing pediatricians, making our wills, upping life insurance, etc.). It was less overwhelming to go slowly.
I'm forcing DH to go next weekend to at least try to decide on the big things we need (Crib, dresser, chair, etc.). I think that the majority will be done after A/S and I will probably end up going with my mom who has far more patience than DH does. The only other thing I really need his input on is the car seat for his truck since he wants a convertible instead of an infant base.

Yeah, I think when I walked into BBB I did one big loop around the store and walked right out with a horrified and bewildered look on my face. BRU is a little better, but still too much to take in all at once. DH and I did a couple of smaller trips at first, to just look as specific departments, before doing the registry. And even for the registry, we did a couple of items in person and the rest online.

Lol, I totally agree with this and I think DH and I actually commented on most of those things - especially the faucet cover...um why??? But...I have to admit to buying a car seat cover - only b/c I had two coupons for an online place that means I got it free and only paid shipping (I'm giving the other coupon to my SIL). Otherwise, we would have just used a blanket too.
The first time I went in there when I was pg with DS I thought I was going to burst into tears. It was just all too much. I've done all my shopping on line, so far, this time.
We were not quite as overwhelmed, but we started a registry super early and didn't intend to do the whole thing. They had a promotion where if you stated a registry and added $50 worth of playtex items you were entered to win a Babies R Us $2000 gift card. So, we went super early and only put a few things on the list. We were only there 30 minutes or so. I did break down and buy a travel system because it was on clearance ($120 marked down from $379). I didn't want to buy anything until we were out of the first trimester, but couldn't pass up that deal.
alpcrna we bought our car seat, extra base and stroller when it was almost 50 % off on Chicco's website for Black Friday sales. I just could not pass up the deal even though I was still in 1st tri
Online registries all the way! I went to BBB/BRU once each to check out the strollers and car seats in person and once to grab a couple little things because I had a good appointment. Those stores are just sensory overload.
I made MH go just to look at furniture and glider. Then I went with a close friend for input on breastfeeding items. The rest I did online. For car seat, I asked a close friend who researches things to no end what he used for kids and got the same.
I am constantly taking things on and off and switching items from BRU and amazing registry based on price, options, etc. It is a lot to take it!
