LovesMeSomeCake I think it depends on the person. I met with all the doctors except one. Out of those doctors there were at least three that I saw only once so that wouldn't have made me anymore or less comfortable during birth if they were assigned to my delivery. In my experience the bulk of the work and pushing was done with the l&d nurse and the doctor pops in at the end. Personally I was fine with that system and quite frankly, at that point, I didn't give a flip if it was my favorite doctor or not. ETA: my birth plan was "baby is going to come one way or the other" so I wasn't fixated on somethings that matter to others, like a midwife or specific Doctor being there.
vlagroupie, always save the ice cream. But seriously, I don't know. If you have to go back to the store, might as well just buy some fresh, non-deformed ice cream, right?
I've actually considered using Prime Now to order some stuff sent to work since they don't deliver to our house. Laziness at its best!

LovesMeSomeCake, with my DS I was adamant about meeting ALL the midwives in the practice. This time, I really do not care if I see the same OB at every visit or not. They all know what they are doing, right?. During labor, I think I saw the MW...every couple of hours? And it was always for like 2 minutes. I developed better relationships with the nurses, whom I saw regularly during labor, rather than with the on-call MW (who I had already met a few times before). I say do what makes you comfortable. I know MH will be my #1 advocate and supporter so it doesn't bother me to have a "stranger" walk in at the last minute to catch the baby.
LovesMeSomeCake I'm looking over your post again and totally agree with your "see my favs and accept what happens". That's exactly what I did. I saw two doctors more frequently because it was more important to me being comfortable to discuss things during those appointments as opposed to meeting a doctor for the first time. And you never know, I lucked out and my favorite doctor was there!

I agree with this LovesMeSomeCake. I only met with my OB during my last pregnancy but knew there was a good chance I would have to go with someone else if my doctor wasn't at the hospital that day. And of course, I went into labor one day before my OB was in so I had a doctor I've never met before. I spent a lot more time with the nurses and my mom and my H were my two biggest supporters so that's all that really mattered. However, you need to do what feels right to you.
judyblume14 same! My first appointment is 6/15 and it's not even an ultrasound. Seeing all these ultrasound results is making me impatient and a little bit anxious. I totally poas today for reassurance. I'll just keep chanting caboose, caboose!
Right - my appt is just talking to the nurse practitioner who is going to tell me not to smoke or drink, to avoid lunchmeat, tuna and raw fish, and not to exercise in my delicate condition (lol). I can't remember if we even heard the HB at the first appt last time!
I haven't even had my first appt beyond betas, but my MW told me definitely continue exercise, especially when pregnant. Just listen to your body and go about 70% of usual effort. Is there a reason your Dr would tell you not to?

+1 About the no ultrasound part.
Yep. First appt at 8 weeks. Prob won't even heat hb then. My first scan probably won't be until the anatomy scan since we forego genetic testing.
It's killliiinnnggg me. Last time I had betas and a couple of early scans due to red spotting.
Good news! I just heard back from my nurse and my betas went from 208 on Friday to 997 today! So it more than doubled twice in five days! I'm so relieved!
Funny story: I called DH to tell him, we talk about how good it is, then he moves on to how a pest company is coming to look at our ant problem. I interrupt him with an "I'm so relieved" (still thinking about the betas, and he's like yeah, I can't wait to get rid of these ants.
Um, what? We laughed and of course he's super relieved, but his mind had moved on.

heybulldog56, and other snoogles, I just joined the team, Amazon is bringing it to me Friday. DH is such a bed hog, it will be interesting.
jrun2013, we are having an ant issue too, DH is going nuts! they are the tiny ones that hang out by our sink, I thought it was a normal spring thing, but DH has declared war.

the nurse practitioner at my office (I hate her) told me not to let my HR get about 135 (super out-dated information), and not to lift more than 35 pounds, ever during pregnancy (you can understand why I LOLed). She said I should take walks, and use 3 pound hand weights. When I told her the way that I exercise was by doing crossfit 4 or 5 times I week, she scolded that "it's not longer just about you, sweetie."
When i complained about her to my OB, my OB said something similar to what yours did: Listen to your body, use the "talk test" and that the next several months were not about setting records or beating fastest times...
Anyway, I'm dreading meeting with the NP again, but this time I'm just going to let her shoot her spiel and not ask questions because she's a b.

The "talk test" is exactly what my CF coaches told me yesterday at my one-on-one with them. They said at any given point in a workout they should be able to ask me how I'm doing and I can give them a full sentence without gasping. And of course it was a baseline day too so that was a bummer. I'm wearing a HRM and resting each time I get up to about 175bpm, i'll adjust from there, might decide on 170, but 135 is asinine. and LOL at 35 lbs.

My OB told me to continue doing what I have always done but to listen to my body and not push it. Then again, ever since having DS, I don't do anything crazy... Yoga, running (like a mile, max). I usually just go for walks.
That's all I have right now. Nb shoot went amazing and my friend picked me up lunch so I'm stuffing my face with McDonald's and iced coffee and editing while baby naps

LovesMeSomeCake, I have to see all of the doctors in my OB group. I feel like seeing them all doesn't matter too much, because it's not like I can control who is or isn't there when I give birth, or perhaps I will if this winds up being a C section. I still don't know if I will deliver with my OB or MFM group, they are through two different hospitals. I think it's about what situation makes you feel most comfortable.

Yes, MH is definitely at war, whereas I'm very laissez faire about it. I just hope it doesn't cost too much.
LovesMeSomeCake I started to see the other dr's in the practice but then DS came at 34w so I only ended up seeing one of them. Prior to labor it was important to me to meet them in case they delivered my LO but then it didn't really matter at all and my Dr actually was able to deliver him.
LovesMeSomeCake I saw a large group of midwives, and the one who ended up delivering my baby was the only.one I had never met. It was fine, she was great. I'm going to have my appts whenever is the most convenient, etc.
+1 to see the nurses more than the dr. When I delivered DS in the city, I had my l&d nurses the whole day and only saw my dr for the 10 min it took him to break my water and catch my baby, before he left again lol.
I am so impatiently waiting for my apt on the 17th it's forever away! It's not even next Friday, it's the one after that! And we arent even at this Friday yet!!

My facial was good, I did mention I was pregnant in case it affected what she did. She asked if it was my first and I said #2 & #3, so she asked if #1 was at home. I briefly mentioned I had a daughter in heaven named Anne.liese, she was caught a little off guard by it, but it felt so good to recognize her and say her name.

Well, I just stood in my kitchen and ate pasta salad out of a mixing bowl with a wooden spoon because I was too hungry to get a bowl or a fork. #winning

LovesMeSomeCake my practice is huge so there was no way I could have met everyone and they take call randomly. Then I was in L&d so long that there were four shift changes, so it really didn't matter. The nurses are the important part.
I also strongly recommend a doula for anyone planning on a vaginal birth. My doula was amazing
