Eeeee!!! So excited My bestie and another really close friend from college are planning on coming down here this fall for our International Balloon Fiesta and one of them just booked her flights! I basically have no friends here anymore so I'm extra excited to have them visit. My FIL is a balloon pilot so we'll be crewing at least one morning and then getting on the field for free another morning to just wander like the tourists my friends will be.

"Balloon pilot" sounds like a seriously awesome job.
jrun2013, I'm going to pretend today that I will go, then text young guy tomorrow and just say something came up. I don't think he will care, but I'll have to think of something that is plausible since we are in an open office, I can't just pretend that it was another project because people will know that's not true. I do not like confrontation. Or like when people question me, I get sweaty and nervous.
Maybe I can say something came up on the home front? Like my fridge went out and I'm going to work from home to wait for new one? I don't know. I'm the worst at lying.
The other project manager might be pissed at me. I might come clean with her on Monday. I just don't want to say anything today, especially since I'm waiting on tomorrow's ultrasound to really know if every thing is progressing as it should.
I think something happening on the Homefront is a really great idea. Normally I'm super honest, but I don't think it's right to have to tell people you're pregnant before you're ready.
There's a group of kids whining to me about some of their grades in certain classes. These are Honors kids who are unaccustomed to "bad" grades. They are all up in arms and blaming the teachers and threatening to tell their parents to come up here and argue for them. It's really getting on my nerves. I am usually quick to come to the kids defense but, just because you turn in all your work does not mean you earned an "A" . Or, my favorite, just because you believe you deserve an A does not mean you do. And, finally, if you chose not to study for a test and don't do well, IT'S ON YOU. <end rant>
I liked this, but I wanted to emphasize it with a yes!!!!!!!!!! Students are not entitled to an A, they have to earn it!

thelittleredm, balloon pilot? That is a kick ass job! Also, the Balloon Fiesta sounds like so much fun! I have never been in a hot air balloon and MH is afraid of heights.... maybe DS will go with me one day when he is older.
I got a new work laptop today! My school district decided to give them to all high school teachers, which is super exciting because I've been using my personal laptop for years and now I can leave it at home!
Also, I am super hungry today. I ate my nice, decent sized lunch and was still hungry right after it. I gained a ridiculous amount of weight with my first pregnancy and never lost twenty of those pounds, so I'm trying to avoid that this time. Ugh!

ellabee, It is pretty awesome lol He's flown in rallies all over the country and flies in a couple in Mexico every year. He's even gone to one in Taiwan! heybulldog56, I'm terrified of heights but can handle it with my FIL because he flies nice and low for me. Most people who are afraid of heights actually do really well in balloons. Wind or a breeze in the face will trigger the sensation of falling and that's actually where the vast majority of people's height fear comes from (so, really they're afraid of falling but it's associated in our minds with height). When you're in a balloon, it moves with the wind so you never get wind in your face so that fear isn't triggered.

I am in the same club. I gained.. way too much with DS. I did manage to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight before getting KTFU. I am still far from my overall weight loss goal but I guess that's on hold until after this baby.
Also, I read "decent" as "dessert". It reminded me that I have a piece of cheesecake waiting for me in the fridge (this is why I cant meet my weight loss goals...)

jrun2013, yay for the new laptop. I love your profile pics, an overwater bungalow somewhere has always been a dream of fine. Is the pictured from real life?
lakegirl, sad face I missed the poof!! Also (and ellabee) I have all DS's future clothes in his closet. We only keep the current size in the dresser. I also keep a box in a corner in his room. When something gets too small, I just toss it in the box rather than put it back in the dresser, so that weeds out most of the outgrown stuff. Once I pull out the new size stuff, I dump everything else in the box in the corner and pack it away, so I have boxes in the basement full of each size clothing he's outgrown. And I put a new box for the next size in the corner of his room. Means I can just chuck stuff in a pile, basically, and not have to sort. It's sort of a weird method but I feel like it's saved me some time, because I can just close up the box and we're good.
How did that, of all topics, end with me writing a novel? I'm an organization nerd, that's how...
eameselephant, can you say broken pipe? I used broken radiator once. Definitely more of an emergency you'd HAVE to stay at home and wait for the plumber on.
@aprilz18 hugs hugs hugs all the hugs. Hope it's nothing, and you're getting some answers if you go to your appointment.
irish14, I live in a high rise condo, so there is a maintenance department and I can't really think of anything they'd need me there for in terms of pipes, etc. They would usually take care of it. I am definitely way over thinking this. Maybe I'll just use DD as an excuse, that way I can still work from home. If I claim I am ill, might be tough. Unless I claim I have something contagious like pink eye that wouldn't prevent me from working! Ooh might have to use that.
You could say you got ecoli from flour, because now apparently the cookies are trying to kill us... .
Do you have a pet? Pet got into (whatever sounds serious) and have to take him to the vet? Someone tried to break into your condo and you have to stay to give a police report? Pinkeye is pretty good though.

ugh weight gain. I'm dreading (more of) it. I'm already up 30lbs from all the med tweaking it took to GKU, I asked the Dr. about it and she was super sweet with a 'we will work on it' in a -smile and nod at the crazy- kind of way, like wtf, you're pregnant dummy. my mom took a candid picture of me last night, and I look 6 months pregnant. I cried. I swore this morning we were going to minimize the sugar/starch, again. My endo had suggested I look into gastric surgery, as a diabetes 'cure' (not the word he used) with weight benefits. So now I'm always going between, Don't diet, but eat well, which has never worked (but at least for baby), and fuck it, eat a damn pretzel and worry about the weight later.

work doesn't know that!
maybe your maintenance guy called in sick today, so you're waiting for some other emergency contractor?
eameselephant remember simple is better! Did I see mentioning it was DD related? I vote for that option because then no one will be staring at you thinking you look pretty good for being so sick on Friday.

Hi ladies! Work has been really busy today so I've barely had time to check in. I've hit a wall though. I'm exhausted, have a headache and am nauseated. I just want to go home and sleep but we have shit to do. Can it be 8:00 so my always needy 3 year old can go to bed?
Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes! I'm sorry I've been MIA for most of today and haven't returned all the support I've been given. I'll make it up to ya'll.
***Good news update***
I kept the appointment just so I would know SOMETHING, even if it was bad news.
The doctor was immediately able to find a heartbeat and it was 129 (yesterday was 121). There was no difference in the measurement, but again measuring something that small is pretty tough so I'm not too concerned.
We also found the source of the bleeding. I have developed a SCH (subchorionic hematoma) that was either missed yesterday, or developed quickly. It was pretty big, I think he said it was a couple of centimeters and appears larger than the sac.
He said seeing the strong heartbeat again today was a good sign but that I could possibly expect more bleeding and spotting. He said he understood my concern but to try to stay calm unless there was A LOT of bleeding combined with severe cramps.
I also got more information on where the baby has implanted. it is near the top of the uterus slightly towards my stomach and that angle makes it difficult to get a really good/clear image right now.
He was really prodding me today to get a better look at everything and I'm a little sore now and I've had a little more spotting, but now that I know what is causing it I'm not in a panic.
They gave me a rogham shot because I'm Rh negative (so is DH, so this was an added precaution) and my thyroid levels came back at 2.9 so they are starting me on Synthoid.
So, I'm exhausted and drained from the lack of sleep and roller coaster of emotions, but today had the best possible outcome. 1) the baby appears to be okay and 2) we know what caused the bleeding.
And LovesMeSomeCake let your doctor guide you with the weight gain. Ask what your goal should be for the pregnancy as well as monthly. You can keep it in check. I'm heavy and I was heavy with my last pregnancy (starting at almost the exact same weight). I kept my weight gain to something like 16-18 lbs total. It was tough and I'm sure being on the super restrictive GD plan at the end helped, but it is possible.
I thought my OB was nuts when she said my goal was 15-20 lbs, but the baby also took what it needed from my...vast reserves.
aprilz81 thank god. I was seriously stressing as I tried to catch up through all these posts. I'm so sorry you had to go through that though!
I had an SCH with two of my pregnancies, with the other I just had spotting. The puking (if it was really forceful) can cause spotting too. I had massive spotting because I had a terrible cold once and was hacking up a lung every 5 min. This somehow caused spotting.
Afm, I was hella exhausted today, and had such a busy day for it being a day off. Lol, funny how that happens.
My sister came by unexpectedly for a visit, she lives out of town but was in town to help my parents with developing their lake lot, then a friend came by with lunch
Hey meeggaannww , how are you feeling today? Hope you're feeling a bit better after yesterday. ETA: fixed tag
You are so sweet to think of me! I'm still kicking, gargling salt water to try to get these blisters under control. I'm just going to keep treading water with the hope things'll get better eventually ( even if it isn't til January).
