I'm going to a family wedding on Saturday and have to sit at the same table as my mom. It's an early wedding, so I'm using that as an excuse to not drink, because I'm not ready to tell mom yet, but would it be risky for me to have a glass of champagne for the toast? I will only be 5w2d, I don't even think we share blood supply yet, right? I just don't want to draw attention to the fact that I'm not drinking ANYTHING vs just not drinking the open bar. Clearly if I'm wrong I wont drink, but just looking for opinions & answers.
I would fake a sip, or have a tiny sip when needed, and have my H drink the rest when no one was paying attention. Toast pours are usually pretty small anyway.
I would avoid declining it though- I think that just draws attention IME!
If it were me I would pretend sip and periodically switch glasses with your H so it looks like it is going down. You can also make friends with the bartender and get a soda with lime or something that looks alcoholic. I've even brought in my own apple juice and poured it in a pint glass to make it look like I'm drinking a beer. I got very good at fake drinking my last pregnancy!

+1 to all of the above! I just did this the other weekend at my SIL's wedding. I let the champagne touch my lips and then set my glass down near mh's. He stealthily finished mine over the next few minutes, I took a few more fake sips for dramatic effect because I was afraid to death someone was going to notice me not drinking, and then set the empty glass back in it's proper spot.
Yeah, a couple sips or whatever isn't a big deal; I don't think I'd drink the whole glass, though. I'd just sip it for the toast, and then let it get mixed up with other glasses on the table/on a side table and kind of "forget" about it, and no one will notice.
FWIW, if you need something that looks like a drink, club soda with lime in whatever glass they're serving gin/vodka tonics is an easy bet.
+1 I'm a gin & tonic girl so this was my go to at the wedding. You could also do a fake gin & ginger. Just make sure the bartender puts in two of the little straws! Mh pointed out that error at the rehearsal dinner.
