I told my H that my mom almost named me Jasmine, and now he loves it. I always thought it was a little too exotic, and it reminded me of the Disney princess, but I know a Jasmine from school who is so put together, mature, and ridiculously smart, and it's changed my perception of the name.

I feel like western culture has done its best to ruin it. I can't honestly say how I would feel if it weren't for all the strippers and porn stars.
This is me. When I said "exotic " I was thinking more "exotic dancer." But knowing a Jasmine who is as far from that as possible has changed my opinion of the name.
The non-American perspective is that it's a gorgeous, unusual name. I've never met anyone called Jasmine and it doesn't have any negative associations.
I love the scent of jasmine and I'm particularly fond of jasmine tea. So I really only have positive associations with this lovely name :-)

While NMS, it's a decent name. I DO think of the Disney Princess but a) I'm a Disney addict and b) my kids have been on an Aladdin kick for several weeks now.
I like the name Jasmine. I wouldn't use it for my own kids, but it isn't anything I'd side eye. Unless it's spelled wrong. I know a Jazmyn that lives around here. Yuck.
