My mom is one of three girls and my grandpa wanted to name them Faith, Hope, and Charity is retrospect and my mom almost used those names for me and my sisters so I would have been Faith. I prefer my actual name (Fa.wn). I don't think there was a boy name in waiting as she picked my name after meeting me. Because I "had big brown eyes like a baby deer"
My mom said that she almost named my poor sisters Faline and Bambi to carry on the deer theme. They dodged the bullet there.
My parents didn't have a boy name for me I don't think. My dad wanted to name me Norma Jean after Marilyn Monroe. My mom said no way. I don't love my name but it's better than Norma Jean.
My parents didn't have a different girl name picked out. Had I been a boy I would have been Aaron or Lance.
Fun side note though, my parents accidentally stole my name from my aunt and uncle, my mom ended up going into labor almost 2.5wks overdue and my aunt went into labor 4wks early, so my cousin and I were born less than 24 hrs apart, and she went without a name for 3 days while they tried to think of something else. One of the nurses suggested Rachel and that's what they went with. I like that better than my own name, incidentally.
My parents didn't have a third girl name so they got mine while reading movie credits. They knew I was a girl so I don't think they had any boy names picked out. I should ask though if they had a boy name for my sisters.
My sister, however, wanted to name me Emily. She threw a huge fit so it's my middle name. I love my first name a lot more.
My sister really wanted to name me Jennifer. I'm glad they didn't. I don't feel like a Jennifer. Haha.
My parents were convinced I was a boy. I was supposed to be Dennis Martin. I just realized as i'm typing that my first and middle names have the same first two letters as this name. Ha! I don't know how I didn't notice that before.
I was supposed to be the 3rd boy, and I was going to be named Miles Landon. The other name my dad was pushing for for girls names was Celeste. I kind of wish that name had won!
My mom wanted Cara and my dad wanted Karen, so they compromised and named me something similar. I would have been ok with Cara but I don't feel like a Karen. I like my name and feel like it fits me well.

I was Courtney or Nicole, but my parents decided when they saw me to start over and my name came out of nowhere. I don't love my name, and it's about equal with Nicole. Better than Courtney.
My parents planned on Ryan for a boy and Laura for another girl. I slightly prefer Laura just because it doesn't have the spelling problems that mine has and it honors family. My combo was the one that had the nicest flow, which is hard with our surname, so I do give my parents points for that. In the end, I still like my name over my birth name.

I was almost Manda because that was my great grandmother's name and she died a few days before I was born. She went with Lisa instead. I never particularly liked my name but I like it better than Manda!

My mom was pushing to name me Marissa but my cousin was born first and named Melissa and at the time they assumed we'd live in NorCal forever, very close by them (we moved).
My boy name would have been Cody. Shudder. She was actually offended I didn't love this suggestion for DS.

Not sure about myself but if DH was a girl he was going to have my name (Emily). MIL had 4 boys, so when we got engaged the first thing she said was "I finally get my Emily."

I don't mind Cody. FFFC?
Totally legit I just think cowboy when I hear it. Maybe because we live in the NE now? It's very Texas to me.

That happened with my husband's mom/aunt. His aunt liked a name, but his mom ended up having a boy first and liked the name as well....and used it. Luckily, they are really close (his mom and aunt), so his aunt wasn't upset, and did end up having a boy a few months later (but chose a different name). It has always been a funny joke, in the family about his mom always getting to things first, because last year they found a used RV for sale, looked at it, and bought it. A few hours later, his mom called his aunt to tell her about the RV, only to find out that his aunt/uncle were about to make the trip over to go and buy that same RV. I finally told his aunt that she needs to start being quicker about things, before MIL snags them out from under her!
My parents told me their first choice was Rose nn Rosie. I'm not sure why they didn't go with it. I got stuck with a very trendy name for the time. People always misspell and mispronounce it.

Haha that's funny, my sister and I are like that too, always making the same plans on accident. My aunt was pretty upset at first, but they had kept their chosen names a secret, so my parents really had no way of knowing! But really, with as little contact as my cousins and I have these days, they could've just given us both the same name and it wouldn't have mattered after age 10.

My MIL is the same. DH would have had my name to carry on the "L" name tradition in her family (Lucille, Linda, Lynn, Laurie, etc.), but she ended up with 2 boys. Both her DILs however have "L" names now though.
