I have been wondering when L can stop taking his Prilosec. I don't want him on it for too long. I forgot to mention it at his 6 month appointment and the dr didn't mention it either.
Are your LOs still on their meds? How much are they taking? The same amount as before or have they tapered off? Has your pedi mentioned when babies typically don't need these meds anymore?

we started weaning K a couple weeks ago! as of this past sat he is med free and so far so good. our pedi said around 6 months a lot of kids start to outgrow their reflux. he told us to drop one dose at a time and we'd know if he still needed it based on his reaction.
So both of mine are on Zantac from very early on, and they both have pretty severe cases. Around 5 months, we even had to split their doses up so they could get meds 3x a day because they weren't making it 12hrs. Last month our pedi said that if they didn't start to outgrow it soon (with age and more solids), we would be seeing a specialist. At this point, we haven't upped A's dose in 2 months, even though he's been gaining like crazy. We haven't upped W's dose for 6 weeks. We'll wait another few weeks before shifting to 2x a day, then slowly start tapering off.

We just had to switch from Zantac to nexium. But the nexium isn't working, so we're going back to the doctor tomorrow. He's still really pleghm-y and he's not sleeping well. I had to hold him up most of the night in the recliner last night.

Hazel had silent reflux, and was on baby Zantac from 2-6 months. Our ped suggested we see if she still needed it at our 6 month check up but didn't give us specific instructions so we just quit cold turkey. She hasn't needed it since the day we quit! We also had she sleeping reclined on a Dex Daydreamer previously but now she sleeps in her crib.

Our ped had us try stopping at 4 months and it was rough! Put her back on and at 6 months got a referral for a GI. He changed her from Zantac (2x/day) to Prilosec (1x/day). It's going okay so far but I have to dissolve it in a bottle . He suggested putting it in the puree but she didn't seem to be swallowing enough of it to help. She still seems to need the meds but I hope it won't be for much longer.

DS doesn't have reflux, but DD did and took Zantac from 1 month until just after 9 months. Our pedi told us we could TRY to wean her off after the 6 month appt, but also said symptoms are often the worst at 5-6 months. DD would not sleep without her Zantac -- she wasn't screaming like she did when she was younger, but it kept her awake. She was also slow to eat many solids, so that may have delayed things.
