We were supposed to go to the lake today-- In-laws bought a used pontoon a while back and we've been dying to get out on the water. DH spent all yesterday helping his dad get it ready and cleaning it up. We got all three little ones and all their gear and food and stuff loaded up and on the way to the lake the trailer blew a tire so we ended up back at home. :/ So much prep work for nothing. They said we will try again next week. I'm bummed.
We had a baptism party at our house today. My sister is 39 weeks so my parents brought three of their kids in case she went into labor. No supervision of them at our house. Backyard is trashed. Door of the storage shed is laying on its side. I told them not to go into D's room but they did. Trashed. Shelf in her closet has the screws ripped out of the wall. I am beyond pissed.
That is awful! How old were the kids? Do they usually act like that? I hate having family parties because you bust your butt cleaning and then the house is trashed thanks to all the kids. We also had A's baptism today. My niece has a cold and SIL still let her touch A. I was not happy about that. Still, your mess sounds worse than that minor occurrence.
Can you talk to your parents and see of they can help clean up?
I really shouldn't complain because usually I love having DH work from home, but days when he has phone meetings all day are the worst. Not only do I have to keep the boys entertained, fed, and happy but also quiet. It's so hard because his office is just off of our living room and kitchen. And it's Monday, so that makes it extra fun.

My 5yo spent the last two nights with my MIL and her 5yo cousin. They are having a ball. But my 3yo is missing her sister and following me around like she is lost without her. It's kind of annoying. I'm not used to having to entertain her. Our family has worked out really well for me - my two boys entertain each other and my two girls entertain each other. When someone is missing it doesn't work well for me.
I have a new appreciation for all of you dealing with a toddler and newborn right now. I forgot what this is like!!
My kid will not nap. Like seriously I try to put him down and it is always an epic fail. He's pretty much awake all day, and I know that is not supposed to be the case! I mean he will take maybe 10-15 minute cat naps here and there. What am I doing wrong? He is 7 weeks.

Right there with you. My kid fights his naps so hard. He can be asleep, looking peaceful as for 5 minutes then he just pings his eyes open and that's it. Nothing I'm doing is helping.

Yes! This is exactly what DS does too. He's tired and we put him down and he looks sounds asleep, then all the sudden he pops his eyes open and is totally awake and looking around.
I feel a little better that it's not just me being a clueless ftm... But sorry that we're all having such nap struggles. DS sleeps pretty well at night most of the time so I guess I should count my blessings. It's just frustrating to read all these books and blogs that say they should be taking 3 long naps right now - do any babies actually do this?!
New levels of exhaustion I've reached: still wearing glasses in the shower, and breast pad facing wrong direction (thank goodness I don't use the sticky parts)
HAHA I've done both of those things! I had the pad the wrong way early on, when I still leaked a lot. I was like "what the heck how is my shirt wet? I'm wearing a pad!" ....oh.
This is from a couple days ago and I can't really get a good picture now that it's bigger, but I'm really starting to think this is a tooth. It even feels a little sharp today. If I try to get a good look at it he cries and he's drooling a lot. Idk, maybe the lack of sleep is making be crazy.
DH should not have left me alone so early this morning. I went on a bit of a baby shopping spree. At first was just looking at the sit-me-up and then it kind of spiraled from there until I placed my $160 order. Oops.

Well, MIL was here for less than 5 minutes and I already got the "you have to break the habit of holding her too much" speech.
Someone asked me the other day, how often does she get put down during the day? And when I responded, they were like good grief you ARE a first time mom. WTH is that supposed to mean?!? She's 7 weeks old, what do you want me to do with her? People are so rude!

We were out and about today so LO didn't get a good nap. He went down right when we got home and has been asleep for 3 hours. Bedtime was an hour ago and I'm getting really nervous for tonight.
I hope it is not bad. We have had day like that and things went fine at night.
DS is napping next to me in bed. I've determined this is pretty much the only way I will get him to nap. Unfortunately now I'm trapped and I never ate lunch! So hungry. Please send me both taco dip and brownies!!!
I'm going to a local outdoor concert with friends and LO this evening. We will be out at the witching 7pm hour...I usually try to be home when the screaming starts. I'm a little nervous but hopefully the music will drown out her crying. Fingers crossed

I've found that being out during the witching hour is a good thing to minimize it! My LO gets distracted with all the new things. Good luck!
Did anyone instantly spot an identifying mark on your baby the first time you saw him or her? I had a conversation with someone who did this too. I wonder if it is instinct to know which baby is yours. For D, it was a little blood vessels on her nose. For S, it was a little blood vessels on his ear.
Yes! S has a very distinct birthmark on the back of his head, his back above his butt, and a hemangioma behind his left ear! I noticed it all immediately.

I haven't found a single marking on DS. I wish he had some kind of birth mark!
