Sorry for the rough time and the nurse that wouldn't listen to you. Really happy to hear whichever nurse swaddled him next listened to you and did it looser and that he had a better day. Hope today's visit went well!
He's a lucky boy to have such a strong mama fighting for him! Hope you're doing well after the c/s! Just realized I've asked about him but never asked how you were doing.
You are doing a great job being such a good advocate for your little boy. Glad to hear he improved with the looser swaddle. I agree with LadyNymeria, how are you doing mama?
Im doing ok. Healing fine and my emotions seem to be leveling off and getting back to normal for me. Which is nice.
Glad to hear it! PP hormones are awful, I can't imagine how it is mixed with stress. Hope you guys are able to enjoy some sort of holiday today with your lil guy!

Well Jackson has had a pretty good day over all. He has been stable for the most part. His ventilator settings were all over the board today so the doctors decided to do an x-ray of his chest again. His lungs still look pretty cloudy unfortunately but they don't think it's due to infection. His ventilator tube was changed out because they heard air leaking around it which is a sign that he's growing. Once he had his new ventilator tube put in they were able to wean his oxygen down as low as thirty! Unfortunately it didn't stay there but it's a good sign of progress being made. The doctors are hopeful that this new ventilator tube will help fully inflate his lungs and get rid of some of the cloudiness the x-ray is showing. They did a blood gas test today and say his oxygen levels in his blood look very good. His blood level is good so he won't need a transfusion right now. His feeding amount increased a little bit because he packed on a little weight. We are hopeful that this new tube does the job and gets him to lower settings!

Jackson has had an overall good day. His ventilator was brought down as low as 30 today for a little bit. His feeding were brought down by two cc's because he decided to not pee with his new ventilator settings. The doctors adjusted his ventilator pressure back to where it was and he started peeing again. They upped his prenatal nutrition IV to make up for what he wasn't getting in milk. His sodium levels are a bit low so they are adding sodium to his milk twice a day. If he keeps tolerating the low ventilator settings they will be able to switch him to a lower pressure ventilator and then we can hold him again! He is three weeks old today and that is hard to believe!

Well we walked into the nicu today to dome awesome news. Jackson has had a good day today! His ventilator has been staying steady between 25 - 35 all day. Seriously so greatful to hear this. Also he is peeing regularly and doing well with his feedings. His lungs are sounding better. He now weighs 2 pounds 10 ounces! We are grateful for his progress and hopeful for when we will get to hold him again.
Great update lovetruly2015! And I'm glad our wee parcel arrived - I hope it was a little bit of sunshine in what must still be very stressful times for you and your family.

More good news and steady progress. Jackson has done very well today! His ventilator settings have been as low as 21, which means he starting to breath at atmospheric pressure again! He still needs a bit more oxygen when he eats because he tends to get a bit of acid reflux but he usually levels out pretty quick. His blood work came back good and he is officially IV free! His digestive system is tolerating the calorie increase very well. His body is regulating his sugar levels very well. He is making great strides towards being on a different ventilator soon! His nurse today said he communicates quite well with his eyebrows. He always lets you know what he's thinking by the look on his face.
He looks so cozy in that photo! I'm glad he's doing so well. Do you know when you'll be able to hold him again?
No not until he is switched back over to the other ventilator, and that really depends on him and how well he does. Right now the only reason we can't is because the tubing for this vent is so short and rigid it doesn't allow for it.
