How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? Have another clogged duct so it's not that great this week.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 8.5 months and she's still going about every 2 hours. Her sleep has been all messed up. She had a cold and is cutting two teeth. But the longest stretch recently was about 3 hours.
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? EBF and she gets a little bit of oatmeal in the morning and some puréed food at dinner. Found some MumMums yesterday and she loves those things!
Raves and rants? Rave: Happy I've made it this far and that DD is still showing interest in breastfeeding. Rant: clogged duct for the second time since beginning of January
Anything else you want to share?my freezer stash is almost gone and I really don't want to bring the pump out to make more. I just use it for her oatmeal but I'm starting to think water would be just fine.
How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? It's going well right now. No issues
How old is LO ? 8.5 months How long between feedings? 3-4 hours What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 4 hours
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? He eats 3 meals a day. Different amounts of solids. Will usually eat 2 servings of purées and a little of whatever we are eating
Raves and rants? Daycare has a difficult time getting DS to take a bottle and so I think they give him food instead. Can't prove that but it's what I think. I've asked them to give him a bottle first.
Anything else you want to share? I go back to work (after my move) tomorrow. I'm nervous about where to pump tomorrow. It's gonna be awkward. I hope I have a fridge in my office (after I go through orientation). I was spoiled before having a fridge.
How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? No issues with breastfeeding, it's going great! The only concern I have is my pumping output. DS starts at an in-home daycare tomorrow and will likely be taking 3 bottles whereas I normally can only pump 2 in one day. I'm nervous about my freezer stash keeping up.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? DS is 8.5 months. He normally goes 2-3 hours during the day and can do around 4 on a good night. Most nights I get 2 hour stretches, sometimes I can get 4 but that's not often.
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? EBF with 2-3 purées a day.
Raves and rants? As mentioned above I'm nervous about keeping up with him at the sitter. I don't have a large stash and will definitely struggle to increase my output by 8 ounces a day.
How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? It's going pretty good. No real problems.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? He will be 9 months on Thursday. 3 or so hours between feedings. 12 hours, but probably half the time he wakes up around 6 hours to eat.
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? EBF Yogurt in the morning and a couple pieces of fruit, finger foods & a little of whatever I have for lunch, purée for dinner and a little bit of what we're having if he is still awake (DH doesn't get home from work until 7:30)
Raves and rants? DS seems less interested in nursing when he wakes up in the morning and sometimes wants to start playing before nursing on the second boob, so that's kind of annoying because then I'm stuck with a really full boob.
kendy20,sorry about your clog. I have the same issue... I've had it for 3 months though... each time I get it to drain a bit, it comes right back. Good news is, it gives you an excuse to take a long hot bath... it's to help get the clog out.
How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? It's going better. My left side is starting to produce more now that I got a stronger pump. The smaller clog "popped" and is now gone! However, the big one is there. I figure if I just keep at it, eventually it will go away.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 9 months and 2 days old. He does about 3 hours now between feedings, sometimes longer. The longest he'll sleep is about 5-6 hours, unless he has a big poop brewing... then it's about 1-2 hours.
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? EBF/EP. He eats three meals a day - 2 tblsps oatmeal with fruit for breakfast. Then a mix of meat, veggies, fruit and whole grain for lunch. He snacks throughout the day as he wants (usually puffs and/or mum mums) and then for dinner he'll have something similar to lunch.
Raves and rants? Raves: I do love our precious time together when nursing. It's the only time he'll really cuddle anymore now that he's walking. Rants: Despite how difficult it is sometimes, DS really is growing up too fast and sometimes I wish time would slow down or halt all together for just a bit.
Anything else you want to share? Now that we are getting closer to the age where DS will start weaning (hopefully slowly), I'm beginning to really appreciate our time breastfeeding together. I'm really going to miss this time.
I'll update more fully later, but @usernameedit, you might want to get that checked out if you've had a clog for that long. The clog I had that I couldn't get rid of turned out to be an abscess infected with MRSA which needed strong anibiotics and to be drained to heal.
How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? I'm in pain! I'm not sure quite how it happened, but I have an open sore on the base of the nipple. It is so painful when he nurses/tugs, that I couldn't nurse him yesterday. I've been pumping that side so that it doesn't impact supply or cause clogs, and it is less painful to pump, but pumping still makes it bleed a bit. I really wonder how lissiehoya & @mk1013 dealt with their painful problems for so long without giving up. Kudos ladies!
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? He's 8 1/2 months. He goes 4 hours during the day and 12 overnight. He's consistently sleeping 11 hours straight now. It's amazing. We've come so far since sleep training.
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? EBF. I pump to add to cereal and add to the freezer stash. He eats 4 T of cereal in the morning, 4 oz fruit/veggie at lunch and 2 oz meat + 2-4 ounce fruit/veggie for dinner.
Raves and rants? I'm really pouty about my problem above. Also, I talked with the lactation consultant tonight and while she's a really nice lady, I felt judged and felt like she was being critical of LO. She acted surprised that he's going so long between feedings. And she said that he's developed bad nursing manners and that we need to work to resolve them. Anything else you want to share? [/b]I'm curious how your LOs behave while nursing these days. The "bad manners" she referenced was in response to my description of my LO's current method. He acts like a kitten nursing on a mama cat. He places his hand on my breasts and pushes hard while pulling his head backwards. He does this until he starts to finish up and then he's more still/calm. I never gave it much thought until this pain issue came up. So tonight, I started trying to discourage it and he was getting very frustrated with me when I would move his hand to thwart his pushing efforts. So even though he was nursing on the pain-free side, it was still a frustrating / dissatisfying nursing session.
QOTRnew , I'm sorry you're going through so much, I hope the pain goes away soon!
As far as DDs "manners" while nursing, she doesn't really tug at me. Sometimes she hits my chest while eating but for the most part she will eat and pull off look around then attack my boob again to finish up.
How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? We're still doing well. DD is teething something awful though, so it's more frequent smaller feedings right now.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 38 weeks today. Still around 3 hours on average. We're getting some 8 hour stretches again! Yay!
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? BF, with pumped bottles at DC. 2-3 "meals" a day. Cereal in the morning, lunch at DC, and dinner at home if she'll eat it.
Raves and rants? Rant: One of my tubes for the pump broke. I ordered replacements, but I'm hating having to pump one boob at a time. Raves: Just loving my little girl.
Anything else you want to share? not at this time.

How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? Really good. No problems this week.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? DD is 37 weeks, 3 days old. During the day she eats every 2-4 hours, and is sleeping 11-12 hours at night.
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? EBF with 1-2 solid meals per day. She gets 2 ice cubes of fruit/veggie purees at lunch, and depending on when she takes her second nap with sometimes get more purees for dinner. She also gets a few puffs after her purees and when she's hanging out in the kitchen with me while I cook/clean.
Raves and rants? DD has started pinching me while she nurses, but only when on the left side.
Anything else you want to share? I"m starting to think about weaning DD. I told DH when I started that I thought I would start around 10 months and be done by her 1st birthday, but as that time get closer, I'm not sure I'm ready. I (mostly) love the snuggle time, and formula is soo darn expensive.

How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? It's going well. LO is a bit distractible, but that's it for issues.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? LO will be 9 1/2 months on Thursday. He is going about 4 hours between.
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? Supplementing with one bottle of formula a day to have flexibility when I am away or when we go places because he is definitely not easy to nurse in public now that he is so easily distracted. He has two or three solid meals a day, depending on how hungry he is.
Raves and rants? Only two and a half more months to go! I had planned to go longer with morning and/or night feedings, but it's tough with two other little ones, so we will see!
How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues? Pretty good. No problems except he seems to be dropping a feeding and I'm not sure he should.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? DS is 8.5 months. During the day he goes 3 hours between feedings. At night he usually goes 11 hours but occasionally wakes up once.
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? Nurse in the morning and night and he has 3 bottles during the day. He has solids 3x a day.
Raves and rants? Rant: I'm traveling for business today through Thurs and the pumping is just really annoying. Dealing with flying and having to pump every 3-4 hours while at a conference is not easy. Not to mention I sure miss my LO! At least the pumping makes me feel closer to him while away.
Edited to add Rave: We went to a play date the other day with 5 other babies around DS's age. All the other moms were explaining why they stopped breastfeeding and then they looked at me and I said, "I'm still going strong!" Then I proceeded to breastfeed my baby. It made me feel proud.
Thanks lissiehoya. I went to a conference in Oct and pumped every 3 hours and missed a lot of presentations. This one is only a 1 day conference so I don't really want to miss presentations. I'll probably do what you suggested although I can't help but worry about messing up my supply
lissiehoya, I went in December and they did a mammogram and ultrasound. They didn't find anything... in fact the U/S tech couldn't even find the area I was talking about. I kept having to point it out to her.
I'm going to call again and see if I can get in with an LC. It will drain, but that only lasts a few hours at best and it never drains all the way. ugh!

If it's just one day I would pump really good before, squeeze in a quick pump during lunch (enough so you won't worry about leaking) and pump really good after.

THIS. I've had to do a day here and there with little to no pumping. I never noticed a change in my supply. For me, it usually takes a few days of repetitiveness for something to effect my supply... for example if I were to skip a pumping session for 3 days, then I'd have a supply dip.
Make sure you empty your breast when you pump and you should be find. Good luck!

This! I got a cut on the under side of my breast this week too. I believe it was a bite but not positive. It is still realty tender and the first two days it turned my milk pink when pumping. I know LO has developed "bad habits" but I don't think they are anything causing any harm. Then again, I did end up with a bleeding nipple
I'm sorry you're going through that too aasmom! I've started working on trying to correct his habits and it's making us both miserable. He's stubborn and getting frustrated. I'm hurting and frustrated. I can't believe that after all this time, our nursing relationship is on the rocks.
How's breastfeeding going this week? Pretty good considering the above mentioned cut. How old is LO? 9 months today! She goes about 3 hours between feedings. Our sleep is awful and varies night to night. EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any? EBF with 3 meals a day. LO loves real food! Raves and rants? Rants- pumping at work stinks! I hate having someone cover my class so I can lock myself in a closet. Raves- I love my bonding time with LO. I'm sad to see it go so I'm soaking up every second we get.

Here's my actual update instead of just commenting on everyone else's...
How's breastfeeding going this week? Any problems/issues?
Fine, though I stayed home today (so lucky I have the freedom to do that) because I felt a clog developing overnight and wanted to be here with DS so he could help prevent it from getting worse.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night?
Will be 9 months on Saturday. Feedings are all over the place with not a lot of rhyme or reason, but maybe 3-4 hours between on average. DS sleeps 10-11 hours at night normally.
EBF, EP, supplementing. How much solids per day if any?
EBF. DS eats 3 meals a day, 2-3 oz of food each time. Oatmeal and fruit for breakfast then fruit, veggie, and starch for lunch and dinner. We've done tofu as a protein and lentils but he literally cried at the lentils so those are frozen for now and we'll try again in a month.
Raves and rants?
Rave: I can't believe I'm still breastfeeding!!! Rant: I'm so tired of pumping at the office when I go in. Needing to pump makes me look forward to weaning at a year.
Anything else you want to share?
I think I've already shared my anything else's in comments to other people already.
