I noticed there was some cloth diapers chatter so I figured I'd make a thread! Who's planning on cloth diapering? What about our 2u2s? How many more diapers are you planning on adding to your stash?
I'm undecided if we will CD for the newborn months. For DD we started at 3 months and have about 30 diapers in our rotation. I would love to get some workhorse fitteds and covers for the nb stage but I'm not sure if I want to invest in it as this might be our last baby. We currently use a mix of pockets, flips, a few grovias, and a few AIOs.
DD will be 21 months when the baby is born. If by magic she is potty trained at 2 that would work out so well and I wouldn't have to buy any more. As long as if the baby doesn't mind wearing girly diapers if it's a boy!

I currently CD DS and will absolutely be CDing the baby. I will not have 2u2 but I will have 2 in diapers because DS shows ZERO interest in going on the potty (he turned 2 in May). Who knows, things may change by January. I have already made a wish list on Nicki's for newborn covers, prefolds, flats, fitteds, and wool covers. We only use pockets for DS and I want to try more options this time.
We cloth. We have about 30 prefolds and 8 covers for the newborn stage, so I'm hoping maybe we can get DS potty trained before the new little starts daycare (not likely). Our daycare won't do prefolds since they require it to be no additional work. We do OS AI2s, most of our stash being from lil helpers. If they end up both being in the AI2s, I'm thinking 6 more should cover us? I'll probably play it by ear. DS will also be 21 months when the baby comes.

@orangcrush, this may be our last one too but I can't resist buying newborn dipes since we didnt start CDing until DS was 9 months. I am hoping my family will be so excited by baby #2 that they will volunteer to contribute to my stash since we don't need much for this kid.

It really won't be any extra work either since you can just toss them in the wash with the others. If anyone asks for gift ideas I will definitely be telling them diapers.

rinny, would I be all set with about 30 prefolds and 8 covers if that's the route I go for this baby during newborn stage? Also, did you ever try flats? Should I bother or just get all prefolds?
I loved prefolds and covers in the beginning. Now I'm a fan of our AIOs because the fit is better. I had a couple of pockets but stuffing is not for me. I only have 12 green mountain prefolds because I wasn't hardcore about cloth diapering in the beginning so I'll get more if I decide to try to go full time with this baby. I should have enough size 1 covers.
Anyone use cloth wipes? I've just been using disposable wipes and putting them in the diaper genie. I figured with newborn poo it's no big deal but with toddler poo? I'm nervous.
We cloth diaper DD and will cloth diaper this little one once we get out of the meconium stage (I know you can during that phase, too, but we just use sposies). DD will be 23 months when this one arrives, plus she has been showing interest in using the potty. She may be potty trained by then. If not, we have a bunch of size 1 apple cheeks that we can use for the lo and we'll keep our free times for her.
lakegirl we do! I do spray them along with the diaper, though (if messy). Generally it's not too bad. We keep a spray bottle with a wipe solution we make from water, coconut oil, baby wash, and then spray the wipe when we do a change. I like the sturdiness and I feel like I get my hands dirty less often vs when I use disposable wipes.
I think we're going to cloth for this LO. I might as well reuse my stash. Once she goes to daycare full time we'll probably convert to disposable for weekdays only.
DD is 2y3m and I'm hoping she's potty trained by the time this LO comes.
My stash (from what I can remember!) includes ~28 fitted tots bots bamboozle stretch in newborn and adjustable sizes, a handful of prefolds and a huge assortment of wraps.
I'll second rinny's suggestion for thirsties duo wraps. I know we have a bunch of those and they worked great with our fitteds and prefolds.

I am super interested in using cloth wipes this time around. Not sure how DH will feel. He was already skeptical of CD to begin with. Although he has come around a bit, I think he will put up more resistance with reusable wipes. Let's see if I can sell him on the saving money aspect.
heybulldog56 I'm in the same boat! When I mentioned it the first time he was like nope, diapers are enough. Now he loves the diapers so maybe I can sneak them in this time, especially with the money aspect and water soluble newborn poo. He was also against reusable swim diapers this summer! Which I don't understand at all. I might just get some anyway since we will be at the beach a ton this summer.

lakegirl, I started using reusable swim dipes last summer and DH had no clue what they were. He now loves them because they saved us sooooo much money. Disposable swim dipes are not cheap. And we were at the pool daily last year.

rinny, I just throw them away and yes, it is SUPER annoying. We dont have a trashcan in DS's room or bathroom. I throw the dipe in a wet bag and then have to walk down the hall with nasty poo wipes all the way to our bathroom. I do most changes downstairs but it's the same: dipe in the wet bag, carry wipes to nearest trash can. It's gross and I need to use SO many wipes because they are just so flimsy.
Do you have a diaper sprayer? I don't. I dunk and swish my diapers in the toilet. If I do cloth wipes, would that work or would you rec a sprayer? DH is on board with me getting a sprayer just wondering if it is worth it.
heybulldog56 dunk & swish would prob work if it works for your diapers. I've had to do it on a few occasions, and I must say in comparison a sprayer is a must have. For sure. Worth every penny.

That's all I need to hear. I really want one. Dunk and swish works but I'd rather spray!

I'd also recommend a spray pal or similar. These things have some force.
DS has been blessed with poop I can plop so I don't have a sprayer. I'm scared that baby #2's diapers won't be as easy. Definitely putting cloth wipes and swim diapers on my list.

For those who used thirsties duo wrap covers: hook and loop or snap? I am adding to my secret wish list/ registry. Also, did you all also use covers and prefolds for middle of the night changes during the newborn stage? Was the a pain in the ass? I was thinking of doing fitteds or newborn AIO for middle of the night. Thoughts?
