I just finished my 2nd week back. It's nice being around adults, and I really like the majority of my co-workers. Mondays and Wednesday are my only full days away from DS. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays I work at my main job in the morning, then go to my nanny job with DS for the afternoon.
I'm exhausted though. It's rough only getting 6-7 hours of sleep and then having to drag my ass out of bed at 6:00 a.m.
How are you labeling things at daycare? We only have to label bottles. Last time I did bands with her name that went around the bottle. I used "garage sale" dot stickers to put the date and BM indicator on it.
DS is at an in-home daycare, and there are only two other kids there. He is the only baby, so I don't have to worry about labeling anything. I just pack a few bottles and some bags of my frozen milk that are already labeled with the date, our last name, and how many ounces. He is also the only one in his diaper size, so I just brought a box of them his first day, no label needed.
Oh also, I really love the in-home daycare where DS goes. She's DH's friend's MIL. She is so nice, she washes DS' bottles, and she puts his clothes through the washer and dryer if he spits up or poops on them.

I have two self employed jobs. The one I do at home I'm looking forward to getting back to, the other in our family business can wait. I love being at home with LO still and don't feel ready to leave him for my full time job (MD of our vehicle dealership), even though I know the business needs me. But I'm excited for the time I can get back to my yarn business at home. I miss the creativity of it. It's my sanity saver. It will be the full 12 months parental leave before I'm back in the office and LO is in care for us.
Ugh. Just seeing this thread gave me a pit in my stomach. I have 4 weeks left and I feel like I need more time. I am just barely feeling like a real person again and kind of getting in a rhythm. The only thing keeping me from completely freaking out is that DS will be watched by my mom and MIL.
I do like my job and I have some awesome co-workers, but I am going to miss him so much!! I really never thought i would be someone who could SAH, but I'm thinking maybe after our next LO I will consider it.
I am super lucky as a teacher that I don't go back full time until the fall. I do however have lots of trainings over the next few weeks that started two days ago. Luckily MIL is also a teacher so she's staying with us to watch DD while I'm away. It was surprisingly easier then I thought. I love my job and profession so I'm highly motivated and that helps. It also helps she was home with MIL who I trust completely, we'll see how I feel in the fall when I drop her at daycare...
Also, good call on the labeling...I hadn't even thought of that! I'll have to look into it!

What grade do you teach? I'm going back to a super awesome high school that already has a pumping room (closet) in the teacher's lounge, but I don't know how to work my pumps in yet. They are on trimesters and have 73min classes. My prep(s) are in the afternoon, so not sure how my boobs will last the morning.
I teach 4th grade and my schedule also isn't conducive to pumping. Kiddos from 8:45-11:30 no breaks! Yikes! But I suppose that's one good reason my milk never came in. We all (5 of us had babies last school year) would have shared the deans office to pump, which means pumping together...haha but I won't have to worry about that. I wonder if you have someone who could relieve you for a few mins in the am so you could sneak away and pump?

For those who will be pumping at work- are you going to pump every 3 hours as if you were feeding your baby? Or are you just going to wait til you feel the need? I've been at work 2+ weeks now and I've only been pumping when I feel a let-down (which is maybe every 4 hours). But now I'm thinking I should go every 3 hours so my supply doesn't tank (especially if DS is going to continue to sleep as well as he has been. I'm not nursing as much at night).
I'm not back to work yet..suppose to go back Aug 5th but financially I think I'll be going back a week or 2 earlier. I have to admit..despite this beautiful weather we are having, I'm feeling kinda ready to return. I miss adults and my friends. Plus my husband is really getting on my nerves. It will be nice to get back to that routine. I'll miss LO but since I work evenings, I'll be with her til 2:30 everyday
I don't go back to work for another two weeks, but I think I may start LO at daycare a few days early. I feel so guilty, but I feel like I need a few days to get myself together and maybe get a nap or two.
Do not feel any guilt. Do what you need to do to feel sane!
I'm kind of confused about how to not waste milk once I go back to work. I have all this frozen stuff that I'll be unfreezing, but how do I have the babysitters avoid wasting it in case LO decides not to finish a bottle. I can just see us blowing through my stash quickly because I'm wasting it but I'm not sure how to avoid it because FTM with no experience.
Yikes, lovemyk, that's rough. Congrats on your first day back, though! Good news only two more days until the weekend so even though you couldn't ease in with the first day the week is almost over. Hang in there, you got this!
They installed a microwave in our little coffee room two days ago. Everyone at work is all excited.... except for me because I sit right outside of it. I've already had stinky sausage and onions heated up and burnt popcorn😡
