I had my glucose tolerance test yesterday morning.
I drank the drink. I sat and waited for an hour. I had my blood drawn. Then I ate some beef jerky to get some protein like many of ya'll suggested.
About an hour later I was doubled over in excruciating pain in my stomach (from belly button down to my crotch). I went to the bathroom, thinking that was it. I went to take a nap hoping the pain would go away.
2 hours later, I still cannot stand up straight due to the crazy stabbing pain in my stomach. DH says enough is enough and calls the OB. They say to head into L&D for monitoring.
Thankfully my OB called the hospital and we were able to get in right away. I got hooked up to the monitor. I was not having any contractions, but baby's heart rate was a tiny bit high. They inserted a catheter to get a sterile urine sample to test for a UTI. (Ummm...I've never had a catheter before. That never needs to happen again). I was monitored for about 4 hours.
Best they can tell, I had a bad reaction to the glucose test drink and it caused GI distress. Baby's HR was probably just high since mine was and my BP was up because of the pain. After about 6 hours the pain started to fade.
Today I am ok, just a little tender. I am just glad that baby girl is ok. That's all that matters to me. Now I am just hoping and praying I pass my glucose test, since I don't want to drink that stuff again!
