Ooh ooh I (unfortunately) know this one! I relied on prune juice and a glycerine suppositories my entire previous pregnancy. Use the prune juice if it feels like things are stopped up further up in your GI track and the suppository if things are stuck further down. Only drink a small amount of the prune juice though- a little goes a long way!

FFSC - when I was on maternity leave my boss moved my office for me and had to move my drawer full of pregnancy pooping supplies. I was induced early or I would have taken that home. I'm still horrified by this.

meladorie - I recently change prenatals, my original had 50mg of colace built in, so I take that daily. I am also eternally grateful to mrsjene - red grapes do the trick!

All the above are good suggestions. Also, all the fiber in the world will NOT help if you're not drinking enough water. Seriously - the more fiber you eat without enough water, the worse your constipation will be.

Once you get things rolling again I highly recommend a fibery cereal for breakfast like plain mini wheats or a kashi cereal. It was like clockwork for me with a good breakfast as long as I was consistently eating it.
It is a stool softener (made of magic) and when needed, if you combine it with miralax...
If it was not for colace, I don't know that I ever would have pooped last pregnancy. It is safe for pregnancy
How fast does it work? I'm like irrationally scared of taking it at night and pooping myself in my sleep
It is a softener but it won't just turn it into liquid--you should still have regular bowel control. It is the best thing ever especially if you have been backed up and have rock poops. I think it was about 7ish (or less) hours after I took one that I would usually poop.

Just chugged a glass of prune juice. If I take it now is that overkill?

Girl, you gotta do what you gotta do. Godspeed!!!!
(I'm not an expert, but I don't think it shouldn't be overkill, since I think prune juice moves it along and colace softens it)

+1 for Colace. It's even what they give at my hospital here after birth. It wasn't super fast acting like no fear that I couldn't leave the house after taking it; but it did the job within about 4-5 hours. I remember taking one dose then taking a second 4 hours later and it happened like right after that every time.
