Feeling cranky on this Monday morning, reminds me of my early first tri irritables. My mom and step-dad spent the weekend with us, I really wish my step-dad would have stayed home, it just totally changes the tune of our time together and my mom and I can't just go do whatever we want. It made for a boring weekend.
Does anyone really want to be at work, like, ever? I feel like every one of these things I post I'm like "UGH WORK, FUCK THIS, I WANT TO GO HOME." etc. I'm like a one trick pony lol.
so does anyone in here watch Game of Thrones? Did you watch last night? HOLY SHIT. What a great season!

Busy weekend away means so much to catch up on today!
Haha, my accidental rhyming is on point.
It took five hours to drive four hours home last night because DC traffic sucks. However, I enjoyed the weekend with my parents and I had the best crab cake I've ever eaten in my life! Amazing.
Today it's back to the grind at work. Grocery shopping and finishing the rest of our unpacking tonight. So looking forward to a three day weekend!

Ok, so H and I had a weird conversation with my 9 year old niece this weekend.
Niece says, "Uncle Paul, are you going to be a lazy dad like the dads I see on TV?"
H (Paul) says, "No, I don't plan on it." Then he kind of got all huffy because he thought she was insulting him.
My sister later tells me that a lot of the dads on TV these days (Like Disney shows, etc.) are lazy and complete idiots. Is this true? I find it to be so freaking weird.
requiressnacks, ohhh lobster rolls. I had my first one when I was in New Hampshire for work back in 2012. So good. They aren't a thing in Virginia, but I would totally travel to New England for a yummy lobster roll!
requiressnacks, yeah, I've noticed a lot of shows these days paint dads as kind of lazy and clueless. I don't know when this became a thing, but it really ticks me off, especially since I know so few father's that are like that.

Ok, I'm glad you've observed this too. I had no idea what my niece was talking about! And yes, that is really annoying that the shows are portraying fathers this way. And obviously, kids are picking up on it.
And yes, lobster rolls (especially the perfect, hot buttered kind) are the best!

Minor accident with DS on Thursday afternoon (he's okay, thank goodness and no stitches required), out on Friday and Sesame Place on Sunday means no time for D16/TCF but now I'm baaaaack. PS. Pregnant at Sesame Place during the summer stinks!
Appointment tomorrow and then vacation for ten days starting on Fri. The vacation itself isn't super exciting -- family wedding and then hanging out with my parents -- but I'll be happy to get away from work.
lastnamewithheld, yes, thank you for agreeing with me They live in the country and we live in the city, he has no interest at all in exploring the city - which is what my mom likes to do.... Anyway, NO I did not get to watch GOT last night because DH was on the phone with his family until it was too late to start the show BIL and others were at my in-law's house and they always pass the phone around to everyone while I watch the clock and get annoyed at not watching GOT.... Oh my, I need a pick me up!
requiressnacks, I'm pretty sure I saw a headline about that the other day. Is it just me or all kids shows total crap now? And it sucks that they're portraying 'lazy dads.' I would think the trend is actually the opposite? Seems to me like dads are more involved now than they have been in the past.

legalbeagle, ugh you get the gold star of awesomeness...the heat and DS hurt. Bah sounds like a stressful weekend.
lastnamewithheld, totally that person...I see it. Oh and I totally suck and need to catch up on Game of thrones I am probably 2 seasons behind. Pretty much just saving all it for 4 months maternity. I feel that is the smart thing to do. NO no one really wants to be at work..but if I was at home my days would seem longer. So its like getting paid to watch a clock...totally worth it. lol
Winnifred, ugh thanks for coming, now go away. This is kind of like when I got to visit my grandmother with DD, I leave hubs at home cause damnit we want to go off and do our thing and he is looking at me like "are you going to entertain me?" Aren't you a grown man...why did you even tag along. I feel your pain. I am usually crabby on Mondays but today is a freak accident that I am not. Probably cause yesterday I was in a "mood" how my dh puts it.
I'm just trying to get through this week, and totally jealous that your boss is out of town, requiressnacks!
I have the opposite situation, where literally all of my remote coworkers, including supervisor and supervisor's supervisor are in town for team-building this week. Not work-work, but still exhausting with lots of dinners, happy hours, events, trainings, etc. Usually I'm totally into it, but this week I seem to have some kind of first-trimester regression, so I'm dreading it. Came home from work on Friday and slept for hours, only to wake up for an hour then go to sleep for the night. Took another long nap on Saturday, and feel like I'm back in weeks 8-10 with the fatigue.
The light at the end of the tunnel is that I'm taking Friday off so we can head to the Cape for July 4. All this talk of lobster rolls and crab cakes is getting me excited.
legalbeagle, so glad to hear that YS is okay! You are a champion for powering through Sesame Place in the summer, let alone while pregnant!
Wishing all of you that are heading off for long weekends or vacations later this week a wonderful time!
I'm STILL home teleworking because of my stupid sprained ankle, and definitely starting to get a little bored. If I had an easier way to get to work it would probably be fine and I could go back, but driving in downtown DC is awful and parking costs a fortune, so I have always taken the train in (from the 'burbs where I live) and walked to my office. Unfortunately, my office building is one of the few in the whole damn city that is at least 3/4 of a mile from any metro stop, and that is too far to walk with my ankle in its current state. It swelled up like a balloon on Saturday when DH and I went out for an hour and a half to Target and Home Depot. Bleh.
In better news, I have an appointment with my OB on Wednesday and am really looking forward to an update on my squish! The sudden appearance of a bump on my abdomen tells me he or she is probably still growing and doing okay in there, but I would like a doctor to confirm it.

lola, I have dealt with days where the fatigue seems to come back as well. I hope it subsides soon for you its really hard to be productive or friendly like that.
achromia, Ugh still have affects from the accident..I want to go beat people up. Do you happen to work in GT I was just thinking of your 3/4 mile walk from a metro. I used to work in GT and it was a brutal existence in the winter, well hell the summer. But at least hump day you get to see squish and watch she/he move around. That does make things not so dreary. maybe you could convince your hubs of a Segway...whats 5k. LOL

Not quite in GT, but still not ideal. We're located a block or two north of the mall, and one block west of the White House/Ellipse. I think it's that WH = no metro because of security risks.
The walk was definitely no fun in the winter, and is miserable in the hottest part of summer!

I WAY overdid it yesterday running around from 6am-11:30pm in the sun & 90+ degree temps. I'm sore as hell today, it sucks. But our town festival went great and I got so many compliments on everything, so it was worth all the work.

Yeah I was like wow it is really hot here and then we got back in the car at 4pm and I realized it was 91 degrees outside. Sesame Place is pretty good about providing shade and bathrooms so I just sat while others went on rides (including the water ones, sad) and drank a lot of water but I did not really think it through. DS and his friend (we went with another family) had such a great time though.

legalbeagle, I wish I could play this game too. I have anterior placenta just like with DD..so I won't probably feel this one till 18-19 weeks hopefully. It took me seeing DD move on US to connect that what I was feeling was her and not gas. Its very exciting your feeling movement though..well even if it might be gas. lol
achromia, Ah yes I have an idea where you are. I used to work at a building very close to the WH but I was lucky in that it was close to one of the metros. I had friends who were not so lucky..lots of flats and Uggs.
