Okay, I'm actually in Northern MI, but my baby is still untoothed. How many of you ladies still have babies with nothing but a vast expanse of smooth, pink gums?
W has no teeth. A has 2, working on a third. My pedi said she doesn't care until 18 months.
Aside from enjoying clicking his new teeth on glasses and spoons, I don't think they really have any impact on A's ability to chew at this point. We are doing some BLW, they gum on things- we stick to stuff that is mushy. I figure if I can smash it between my tongue and the roof of my mouth, they can gum it.
We still have no teeth and no signs of teething either. I thought he might be teething bc he got a bad rash on his butt, but that cleared up with no tooth popping through.
We literally just started solids. I have been blending stuff up and freezing it in cubes. I haven't been blending them super smooth so there is texture and he can get used to bigger pieces. I don't plan to stay with purées as long as I did with DD.

I can't imagine the first few teeth help with chewing since they're front teeth. But, E doesn't have any issue gumming down a piece of chicken!
She JUST cut her first tooth and the second one is right behind it.

Still toothless in Tulsa, too. I thought we were working on them but we are not. He loves purees at daycare and we are trying to do BLW at home but he still gags when he actually gets food in his mouth and looks at us like we have betrayed him!

LO is 8 mo on Friday and still not a tooth in sight. I can see the outlines of her 2 lower front teeth , but nothing is poking through yet. We're doing purées and soft solids

we're a week away from being 9m and still no teeth. I "think" they're on their way though because his gums feel lumpy to me now. he won't actually let me look in there though to see if they've maybe broken through.
With regards to foods, he gets pretty much anything and everything at this point. We more or less skipped purees by his choice and he's been gumming up all kinds of stuff since he was 6m. He's getting better at actually ingesting it too rather than just gumming it to death and then letting it fall to the floor.

Thank you everyone for the input and food suggestions. My mom insists that my daughter must be teething, because she's been drooling a lot, but that's intermittent and I've had my fingers in her mouth every day feeling around for a tooth for weeks without any change.
We've been doing pureés and cereal, with some table food as appropriate, but I haven't been very consistent in giving it to her every day because she's not a real fan of mush and cereal, and I don't always have something prepared that she can manage. I feel like I'm failing this solids introduction process even though she will literally take food out of your mouth if given the opportunity.
No teeth in sight. I do puréed foods mostly, and shredded meat. She does fine with gunning it down though
How fine do you shred the meat? I've done similar, but I never feel like the pieces are small enough unless they're just teeny tiny micro specks.
I shredded chicken in my kitchenaid, so it was really small shreds from the bottom. My husband gave her pork and just cut it into a super small piece and kind of smushed it a little.

We got our first tooth on father's day (7.5m) and the second two days later. dd didn't get her first until 10m exactly, her third at 15m. Food wise dd did much better with solids. Our chubby boy is still existing on breast milk with some mum-mums and puffs added in. He chokes on anything more substantial and usually spits up (never spits up otherwise).

I think you might be pleasantly surprised to see what she can manage foodwise! Not pushing for solids on anyone, but I had the same concerns with K because he flat out rejected purees and kept trying to grab our food instead. we handed him a piece of steamed broccoli and that was the end of purees. He still has no teeth but can gum almost anything to death. at this point it's not even about ingestion for us but more getting him used to textures and tastes so we let him go to town. I never would have imagined he could somehow break apart inch long strips of chicken or pork with no teeth but he somehow manages it. he may not swallow it all, but he sure can chew it up!

We really like eggs!
My girl likes eggs too. I forgot to mention she's gotten some omelette on more than one occasion. She also snatched a piece of bacon off my plate when we were out to eat.
