So we have lived in our house for 4 years and managed to get every room painted except the kitchen. Mainly due to not deciding what color to paint it.. I've attached a picture (hope it works) of cupboard color, our counters and floors to give you an idea.. what color would you paint it if it were yours to do anything you wanted with? Our appliances are all white and its a pretty darn big kitchen.
I think a sage green would work or maybe a copper orange? I'm horrible with picking out colors and really have no business offering up a suggestion. But I want to up my post count!!!! bwwaaaahhahahah!!

Could you continue the same green into the kitchen?
IMO, the brown would depend how big your kitchen is and how much light it gets. (If it's small and dark, brown wouldn't be a great choice. If it gets a lot of light, brown might be okay.) I'd pick a brown to play off the granite, maybe?
A blue shade might compliment the green if you wanted a more colorful color than brown.
I don't know how to do pics on here. But try to follow this link. From looking at your granite pattern, I think this brown would work if you are looking for a brown.
BTW, I love browns, greens and reds. So I think if you have green in surrounding rooms, a light enough brown shouldn't look bad. Plus, I would play off the granite colors. Try to find a light brown that will blend with it.
