I promised DD1 that after her nap we would go over my parents to go swimming so that is on our agenda today. Other than that, we have no plans and it should be a fairly low-key weekend.
We went to a free music class and then this pretend play dance class that DD loves. Then met friends at the park for lunch. Exhausted. DD says she does not need a nap, and it's only 2 PM, but we really need to do some basic cleaning so probably that will be the rest of the day. Tomorrow, we go 2 hours north for DH's huge family reunion. Should be fun but another tiring day. Then Monday we have big plans to go blueberry picking and to an indoor play place in another town near the blueberry place so that should be another exhausting day...after that, maybe rest?
We are finally getting a break from the heat, so we've been outside all day long. DH has been doing yard work. I puttered in the garden a little bit, I'm so happy with how well the garden is doing this year.
This morning I took the girls for a long walk and bike ride. DD2 (3 years, 1 month) refuses to pedal. She was scooting along with her tricycle so we moved her up to a small bike with training wheels to encourage pedaling, but she won't. She'll pedal a few times and then just quit. It's frustrating.
Now I'm chilling in the backyard with the kids. I need to go inside and pull out some meat for dinner but I'm feeling lazy lol.
@mommatotwo, my 3.5 year-old will not petal. I took her to an OT for an assessment, since she also won't get dressed. Maybe she'll get some fun therapy--no info yet but I don't think they thought she was really behind. I think a bike with training wheels would probably encourage DD, but I don't want to pay more for riding things if she just won't... Blah.
brachysira,I totally hear you. This is a hand me down bike from DD1, who coincidentally never even rode a bike with training wheels. By 3.5 she'd self taught (at daycare) herself to ride a two wheeler. So that might be why I feel extra frustrated/worried that she's not pedaling by now.
forevermorgan, that's exactly how my 3 yo is acting. Like...nah...just go ahead and pull me along mom.
DD and I went to the park today while DH mowed the grass. We had fun, saw some frogs and baby ducks. We also picked up some decorations for her birthday party next week. She wanted My Little Ponies, which made me feel kinda old. They look completely different from when I was playing with them.
LO and I drank hot cocoa together this afternoon after our movie date because, well, because kids are funny. It is not even the funniest request he has had this week. A few days ago, I was making something involving mini semi-sweet chocolate chips. He likes to have a few (no surprise), but this time, he requested two stuck together. Not sure how they are different from two not stuck together, but apparently it is because he finds it comical that they got stuck together. Do you know how hard it is to find two stuck together when you are glancing at a sea of those itty bitty things?!? Lol. There are so many chips in sight, and so many look stuck together that really aren't when they are the minis. The things he comes up with and his views on the world, I just love those sorts of things that come with this age.

I was annoyed with the different looking "my little ponies" too, when DD1 first started playing with them about 6 years ago. But I'm used to them now
@auri - none of that stuff is as cool as the original. Especially Care Bears. Oh, and Strawberry Shortcake. And Popples.
We ended up with a Strawberry Shortcake DVD in a lot I bought off facebook and DD1 is obsessed with it. We took it on our trip and she's perfectly content watching the same DVD over and over.

We are taking the girls to this free family even today where they have kids activities set up along with a police car and fire truck. It should be a fun time! After this we will probably go swimming at my parents, really hoping for good sleep tonight!

I actually don't really remember the originial Strawberry Shortcake very well...I wasn't very into it. I was more into Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Rainbow Bright. I tried letting DD watch the new Care Bears, but it bothered me so much that I just let her watch one episode and luckily she was ok with watching just one.
So...I'm going to admit I'm a bit of a geek. I downloaded the new Pokemon app a few days ago, but today was really the first day I got to play with it. I just found a tick on me from when I went walking looking for some pokemon earlier. I think the next time I play, I'll have to put some bug spray on.
