Is anyone buying a Doppler? I want one so bad. But DH figures it will freak me the fuck out OR I'll do nothing but play with it all the time. Honestly both are probably true. So I probably won't (unless I find a cheap one on a yard sale site-- I can't resist a good deal)
I own one. I didn't even try to use it with DS before we heard the HB at my OB's office, but I used it a couple times a week after that. I'm debating about getting it out again, though. DS seemed to be in a place where I was easily able to find the HB, but my sis borrowed it with her last baby and she could never find it. It stressed her out, and she now has a perfectly healthy 3 month old.

I had one last time. I had to set myself limits. I only allowed myself to listen once a week, or if I wasn't happy with kick counts. I put it in a hard to get to location, and it helped. A friend is sending me hers for this time, and I'll probably do the same thing.

I work in the ER as a PA so I pretty much have access to US and Doppler whenever I want it. I was pretty good last time about not over using this perk. I will be getting frequent US at the OB too due to my history of IUGR so I know I will get to see the baby a lot.
I tested on 3w4d and the digital gave me 1-2 weeks. I tested again yesterday at exactly 5 weeks and it said 2-3 weeks. Is that correct?
These tests have made me so crazytown in the past that I've actually read the whole FDA fact sheet on them. Even the results from the clinical trials ranged wildly for when urine samples registered a 3+.
Check it out at www.accessdata.fda.gov/cdrh_docs/reviews/K112870.pdf if you are interested. The "threshold" for 3+ is supposed to be around 2600, but in the trial, only 65 out of 90 samples got a 3+ when the HCG level was 3229! There were samples that didn't get 3+ until HCG was over 4000! And this was under lab settings where the dilution of the samples was precisely controlled. So saying that your mileage may vary with these tests is an understatement. Take the results on the weeks estimation part with a grain of salt.
That being said, I'm still a sucker and still bought them this time around. I just really wanted to see that 3+. As if to say, "Damn you, CB digi, I will defeat you!"
Me (37) + DH (39) BFP #1: DS born July 2011 BFPs #2,3,4,5: Four losses from Nov 2013-Nov 2014. Yeah, that sucked. BFP #6: 1/5/15 - Rainbow baby boy born 9/16/15
Is anyone else feeling super warm all the time? This just started today, at 4w3d. I've been sick for almost a week, but not running a fever. I had to turn the heat in our house down to 64 degrees, and I'm still too warm. Is this a pregnancy thing?
Yes. I wake up every morning drenched in sweat. It's one of my most telltale pregnancy symptoms.

I thought about it. I am now fighting my pgal brain. I finally stopped POAS but now I'm worried since it is very likely I won't have a U/S until 12 weeks. That is such a long time to wait and I'd love to have something that could reassure me. But I also know that it could potentially just freak me out even more.
Sent from my SM-G900P using proboards
I have one that I bought for the pregnancy that resulted in my 3rd loss. But with both that pregnancy and the one that followed (also a loss) I never got to the point where I could find a HB with it. So I will be busting it out this time if I make it far enough to detect anything. REALLY hoping to get to use it.

One of the moms in my December 2011 FB group is sending me one that was sent to her by another mom in the group. I am supposed to pass it on to another pgal mom when I am done with it. I totally teared up with they told me they were doing that for me.

Any non-ftms already feeling round ligament pain? I'm only 6w3d so it seems early to be experiencing this, but I swear that's what it is. Only happening if a twist a certain way or stretch a little too far. Thoughts?
Yes. I didn't think it was possible and still not 100% sure but. Pre PG the only cramp pain or whatever I would get would be my sciatic pain down the back of my legs and buttcheeks. After my BFP I have the pain down the front of my leg and pelvis. The only time I've had that pain is when I've been pg.

I was hoping to get the one I loaned to a friend back. But, when I asked her about it she said she donated it! I was quite bummed about that. The thought of having to spend another $50-60 on something I don't necessarily need is leading me to probably not....
But, I did like it with DS wasn't able to hear the heartbeat until 10weeks at home but it was nice to hear him before I could feel him.

I'm having trouble trying to find a DHA supplement that doesn't give me fish burps after. I'm fine taking the one at night but I need to take at least one more to get my full amount and this one makes me so queasy if I take it during the day. Anyone have any suggestions? I looked today for a gummy but it only had 50 mg which is too low.

I'm exactly the opposite! I feel cold all the time and it irritates me much more than usual. I think it's just hormones.
I went to see my regular physician yesterday after being sick for several days with the flu. He wasn't able to prescribe anything, he just gave me a note to take to work. He offered to do a blood test to check my HcG levels, just for the hell of it, so I said sure. My question is, can the result of this even tell me anything? My understanding was that the level itself doesn't mean much; it's whether or not it doubles in the right period of time.

I'm pretty sure you're right. There is such a wide range of normal HcG that one reading doesn't actually tell you much but for that you're pregnant.

That's correct. A single number doesn't mean much other than that you are pregnant. Doubling/increasing numbers is what matters.

My first pregnancy I had a problem with the DHA pills upsetting my stomach. My doctor told me just to take the gummies and then make sure to eat some DHA rich food each day. I usually ended up making scrambled eggs with the enriched eggs (forget the brand). Ultimately my doctor wasn't too worry... As he put it, "10yrs ago no one was worrying about DHA and babies turned out just fine." Obviously talk to your doc, but that's my experience.

My DHA supplement is just the target brand and no fish burps have occurred for me:) I take it since the target gummy prenatal only has 50mg. The supplement is 200mg.
I am a major caffeine freak and ended up with a horrible headache yesterday from not having any. Any suggestions on what I can do or how long it takes to get over it? I currently walking around with lavender lotion on my temples to see if that does anything.

I take the Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA. Easy to swallow and no fish burps!

Could you try to wean yourself off slowly? Like have half your normal amount mixed with decaf then slowly move towards all decaf or tea or something? I also get caffeine headaches if I try to skip my coffee, but for me it's a mental thing too. Skipping the caffeine AND the warm drink ritual in the morning really throws me off. In addition to transitioning over a week or so (vs cold turkey), if you could take away the caffeine without taking away the warm drink it might help ease the transition?

That's a great idea, I'll give it a try! Thank you!

Also - you can still drink up to 200 mg of caffeine a day. I personally drink one cup every morning

I tried to last night and the smell made me run to the bathroom. I'm really hoping I get over that quick, it's on of my favorite things!!!
I prefer coffee, but I've also been drinking a lot of tea. It's a little less caffeine so I can have a few cups throughout the day, and toward the end of the day I switch to a decaf variety (rooibos is really good). A co-worker of mine also gets her tea made like a latte at Sbux. Not the same as a real latte, but it's still pretty good.
I use a heating blanket on my lap most evenings while knitting and watching TV. Is this harmful?
Some people avoid them, but I believe the general consensus is no, unless you are keeping the setting so high that you are raising your core body temp to 100+ degrees. You'd probably notice if you were that warm, so just keep the setting low.

I use one at work because it's so cold but I never get so warm that I sweat so I don't think it's raising my temp so much that I should be worried.
If the issue of core body temperature affecting the baby is accurate then how is working out or running still advised? That always confused me.
I've been wondering the same thing, too.
I've gotten really careful at not taking my usual scalding hot showers, and I sparingly use the space heater under my desk at work, but when I went for a long walk with my hubs and puppy over the weekend and noticed I was feeling warm, I was thinking to myself, "How is this okay, but taking my hot showers isn't?!"
