I use one at work because it's so cold but I never get so warm that I sweat so I don't think it's raising my temp so much that I should be worried.
If the issue of core body temperature affecting the baby is accurate then how is working out or running still advised? That always confused me.
I've been wondering the same thing, too.
I've gotten really careful at not taking my usual scalding hot showers, and I sparingly use the space heater under my desk at work, but when I went for a long walk with my hubs and puppy over the weekend and noticed I was feeling warm, I was thinking to myself, "How is this okay, but taking my hot showers isn't?!"
I've never heard the no hot shower thing from a MW or OB and I don't believe it is in the Mayo book, so for me I'm not 100% convinced it is a thing. I do think this is one reason they say to basically continue to do the same level of activity as you did pre-pregnancy and not add anything new. Typically they are looking for sustained periods of high core body temperature. Sent from my SM-G900P using proboards
Any non-ftms already feeling round ligament pain? I'm only 6w3d so it seems early to be experiencing this, but I swear that's what it is. Only happening if a twist a certain way or stretch a little too far. Thoughts?
I have had a couple of twinges myself. I am 5 weeks, 3 days. Not 100% convinced it is round ligament pain, but once you said that it got me thinking that.

^ Same here. Not sure if it is round ligament pain, but that describes feelings I am having. I am so hyper-aware of every single twinge or tug in my midsection, I was starting to think they might have been in my head.
I am a major caffeine freak and ended up with a horrible headache yesterday from not having any. Any suggestions on what I can do or how long it takes to get over it? I currently walking around with lavender lotion on my temples to see if that does anything.
Same here. Missing coffee more than wine. I have been drinking red rooibos tea (specifically Currant Affair from David's Tea) and it's really rich and aromatic, which has a nice placebo effect. My last two withdrawal headaches were tempered by peppermints. Eating something with a fair bit of protein and fat also helps (like cheese).
I've also heard that smelling coffee can alleviate headaches, but I am skeptical, that feels like a giant tease.
Last time I was pregnant (ended in a loss) my doctor did zero bloodwork until I was 11 weeks. They never even actually confirmed the pregnancy early on. Now that I've had a m/c she said next time she wants to see my earlier for a 7 week u/s. I called today to make my appointment and asked the nurse to ask if my doc will consider checking betas and a progesterone level. My question is how many betas do they usually check? Just 2 to make sure they are doubling?
I'm a little frustrated with my OB office. They refused to schedule me at 7 weeks. They have to check with my OB first. My OB seems nice but was not at all educated about my dx of factor v Leiden. She also couldn't find the baby on u/s with my last pregnancy and scheduled me for a d&c where they did find a very small baby with a slow HB. (Ended in a loss a week later -but still!!) She then told me that temping and OPKs were a waste of money and that they didn't work. And said I should just try to have sex around CD 14. WTAF??
I would really love to switch to a group that is closer to me that actually has midwives. I've heard awesome things about them! I just don't feel like I can call up a new practice and demand a early u/s and bloodwork. Ugh.

I would definitely switch. Maybe the new place does ultrasounds standard. If not, tell them you're concerned and you'd like it for peace of mind. My midwives are more than willing to give me referrals even when they think I'm crazy. (They don't do ultrasound or bloodwork in house). GL!
TrickyJedi - I've been drinking some Teeccino (teeccino.com) which is an herbal coffee, no caffeine. I ordered the sampler pack that has a variety of flavors. This lets me still have the warm drink routine without the caffeine. I love coffee, but I've always been super sensitive to caffeine, so I've decided to avoid any coffee.

I get the half caff coffee and have a small cup. I get horrible migraines if I don't caffinate, in fact that is the reason I started drinking caffeine.
Sorry my n00b is showing, but I have a question about prenatals. I've been taking a prenatal for 1+year that has no added iron in it. I assume I just keep taking that until my doc tells me that I need to take a prenatal with iron?
And, now for a really silly question - I have tickets to see my favorite band play on 8/17. I think I would be about 33-34 weeks at that point. It's going to be a super loud concert, I will likely wear ear plugs. Will this be ok for my little bean? Maybe this is a dumb question. I assume that the sac, my fat/muscle/skin would serve as adequate barrier (sort of like being underwater, no?), but I just want to be sure. I know I'm probably getting a little ahead of myself, but just in case it's advised that I not go, the earlier I try to sell the tix the better.

I'm not sure about the concert but as far as the PNV go, the folic acid is really what's important for baby's development. A lot of women get sick from the iron in the PNV and have to take on without so I don't think it's an issue.
I'm having trouble trying to find a DHA supplement that doesn't give me fish burps after. I'm fine taking the one at night but I need to take at least one more to get my full amount and this one makes me so queasy if I take it during the day. Anyone have any suggestions? I looked today for a gummy but it only had 50 mg which is too low.
My first pregnancy I had a problem with the DHA pills upsetting my stomach. My doctor told me just to take the gummies and then make sure to eat some DHA rich food each day. I usually ended up making scrambled eggs with the enriched eggs (forget the brand). Ultimately my doctor wasn't too worry... As he put it, "10yrs ago no one was worrying about DHA and babies turned out just fine." Obviously talk to your doc, but that's my experience.
Thanks Ladies! I got the Target pills (the generic Expectra) yesterday, and so far, so good. I think it makes a huge difference taking it before bedtime. I was fine taking my other pill at night, but it was taking more than one a day that gave me a problem. So, only having to take one pill vs 2-3 spaced throughout the day makes a difference.
Does anyone else have on and off boob pain? For some reason I thought it would be pretty consistent, but some days they don't hurt at all. I've also noticed that they hurt more at night for some reason, and the left one more than the right. I'm not really concerned or anything, just curious.

Yep. Mine hurt so much last night I woke up when I rolled over in my sleep. This morning - nothing.

I think the concert is fine (if you want to go. Last pregnancy I was probably sleeping 14-16 hours a day by that point). I went to the shooting range when I was pg with DS. His hearing is fine. Ask your doctor just in case.
I had some anemia last pregnancy so they told me in 2nd tri to take an iron supplement. At my first appointment last week she told me to go ahead and start some iron when my stomach can handle it. But my iron is generally low.

Yes I have noticed it a few times if I get up too fast from my desk! I work in a small office and they all know what's going on when it takes me a second to compose myself!

Ok so I have been awol for a few days due to ridiculous stress and going off the grid. But my random question for the day is
'Has anyone else had a weird reaction to the flu shot?" I got mine on Friday at my first OB appt since I hadn't had one this year and now I have this huge silver dollar size welt looking spot. I know its going to be tender but its also red. I have never had an allergic or any reaction at all to previous flu shots. This is weird.

I'm pretty sure you're OB will let you know if your iron levels look low. I wouldn't worry about switching.
The baby will be fine at the concert. I am on my 4th kiddo, and have always felt pretty good in the third tri, I would plan on going!

I've heard of people getting sick from it but not having a welt. I would call my GP/OBGYN and see what they say.

I see him again tomorrow for my u/s and bloodwork and going to point it out to him. The CDC said any side effects go away within a day or two but its been longer than that. Its probably nothing just unusual.

Yes yesterday it felt like my left nipple was being torn off. Today my right boob ached all day nothing on the left side. Right now nothing totally comfortable!
