For those of you that have a baby sleeping in the crib.....
Which way do you lay the baby? My LO rotates a lot and I would like to keep her from getting too close to the back since it is solid and not slats. But she also pushes herself pretty well on her back.
I am thinking of trying the crib tonight and I have a feeling she is going to sleep fine but I will be up every hour checking on her!
I put R in the middle the long way. He doesn't move much just scoots up a tiny bit.
How do you keep the sun out of your baby's eyes when it is shining at the perfect horrible angle through the back window of your car?
Shade thing on car seat. Means I can't see her, but oh well.
That doesn't work sometimes. It's just certain time of day, when the sun comes in directly, not quite from above. So if I'm driving west certain times of the morning, or driving east certain times in the afternoon, the canopy does not do anything.
jags8 do you have a cling for your window? That may help block it a bit but still not perfect. At really bad times I've draped a muslin blanket to shield him.
I have clings on the side windows, but not the rear window that is the problem window.
Anyone with toddlers can you recommend a car seat that works rear facing behind passenger or driver seat?
We want to keep LO rear facing forever basically. We had to turn DS1 when LO was born because the car seat rear facing behind a feont seat basically makes us sit all up in the dashboard. It worked fine when we could put him in the middle. We also don't want to put the boys next to each other. I know we have a few months but I want to know our options.
We have the Graco4ever, which I believe is supposed to be one of the better ones for taking up less space front to back. It is really highly recommended for extended rear facing. The Cosco Scenera Next ($40 at wallmart) may be a good option, it is what we have for airplane travel, because it fits well rear facing in the close together seats of a plane. It rear faces to 40lbs.
You can always join Car Seats for the Littles on Facebook, and ask for recommendations. They have a list of top recommended car seats in their documents section as well, and they give info on which are more compact front to back.

Our 2 year old is still rear facing in a graco4ever. We have a pretty spacious car, but it fits with plenty of leg room.
Also, @unicornofthesea, you can follow Carseat Blog on FB, they post sales on car seats, and have recomendations. Because of a sale they posted I got a Graco4ever for $229, vs the $300 it normally is. Since you are not in a rush to get the seat it would be worth it to wait for a sale.
Should I be cleaning LO'S ears? Sometimes I see a little wax but I just use my fingers
While nursing, I use my pinky fingernail to gently scrape off wax build-up on the outer part of DS's ear. I wouldn't stick a Q-tip on the inside or anything like that.
If we are just going for a walk, I never buckle her in at all. I've never thought twice about it. Maybe I should? I figured she isn't going anywhere...
Yeah but what if the stroller gets hit by something and tips? You may be very careful but not everyone else is.
I almost dumped DD1 on the ground a couple weeks ago (before we got a better stroller that can handle the broken sidewalks here) she wasn't strapped in but there was a bar that latches across the front that she grabbed onto and was fine. I can't imagine if it had been LO.
Granted, the sidewalks here are really awful so I might not have even thought of it had that not happened and I still don't make DD1 strap in unless she's being a handful but our new stroller handles the missing bricks much better.
Same problem over here. He hasn't rolled in his crib yet though. I'm hoping he learns how to roll back to his back soon.
We were going to start transition to crib last night but then she rolled on belly and got stuck when H put her in bassinet so I got scared. Hope they learn soon
Our crib actually seems safer than the bassinet if LO is going to be on her belly in the MOTN so long as they are unswaddled. DD1 started sleeping on her belly when she was 5.5 months old, it made life so much easier.

My son started sleeping on his stomach super early too. The Dr said as long as he rolled himself into the position and we didn't put him like that, it was OK. Still freaked me out though! At first I'd always roll him back, but it was useless since he would just roll right back to his stomach.

Yeah, I figured once she had control with rolling and could lift her head it wasn't a big deal. She finally started getting some sleep too and within a couple weeks we were all really comfortable with letting her sleep on her belly.
My MIL said that all 4 of her kids preferred sleeping on their belly so I guess DD1 is like her dad. We'll see about LO, she sleeps so much better that I'm thinking it won't matter to her as much.

What do you all do to keep sun off your little ones when you wear them? We have the ergo 360 and I've just been putting a thin swaddle blanket over her. All her sun hats are huge and she usually has bare arms/legs because it's hot out!

I got an old school type bonnet (tight against the back with a little brim) from Etsy for DD1 and it fits LO pretty well now so she uses that, the hood traps her in too much so if she's not sleepy she gets very unhappy. Luckily it is cool enough here that she can wear long sleeves and socks to protect the rest of her. I think I used an A&A swaddle blanket on the outside of the carrier to help protect arms and legs when DD1 was little but that only provides a little protection so shade is your friend when you can find it.
It has been really hot here, but when I have worn him outside it has been upper 80's maybe, and that has been in the Bittybean carrier which is really light.
This past weekends heat index was around 105F, so no outside time at all.
How hot is it where you are babywearing? I'm too worried here about DS having heatstroke to even attempt it when we're out and about.
I'm with you. I'm in Michigan so not super super hot, but we have close to 100° days. I typically wear her for short periods of time (an hour) for walks or trips to the park. I try to just do it early morning or later in the day when it's not so hot. I hate how hot and sweaty we both get and worry about her overheating.

It has been way warmer than norm here in the mitten! I mostly wear indoors, or late afternoon /evening at the park
I know some of us are starting to transition to the crib. Is there a certain age that it's best to do this by? The sooner the better? Does it really matter?
Seriously need all the sleeping tips because DS1 has never gone to sleep on his own. I feel like we broke him. I dream of the days where we can tuck him in and just leave the room!!
Hoping LO can eventually just go to sleep in the crib on his own.
I have been wondering this too. DS is still in the rock and play. He sleeps soooo good in it though so I'm like why mess with it. But I don't want to do it too late!
