Ooh I have a dumb question! My neighbor was talking about having had her tubes tied, and I've always wondered- what are they "tying"? Like, what actually changes after? No ovulation, but still periods?
And this goes for any birth control that keeps you from ovulating: what happens to all the eggs??? You just never go through menopause? Isn't menopause when all your eggs just run out?
@unicornofthesea I think it helps LO keep it snuggled near his mouth instead of it falling away so easily. I never bought one with my first two bc I thought it was just for cuteness. It actually does help!

The eggs are there from birth. The three month old girls on this board have had them since they were in the womb, but it takes hormones to trigger your body to release them, which is why girls don't ovulate until puberty. Hormonal pills just don't allow that triggering to happen (or they do, but make it impossible for the egg to implant). When your tubes are tied there is nowhere for the eggs to go. They just get reabsorbed into the body. When we go into menopause we will still have the rest of our eggs, we will just lack the hormones to trigger ovulation.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. That's just my understanding
When people use their rock and play do you use the rocking feature?
We do. That motor is on the whole night, I tried once without and he woke up right away and now I'm too scared to try again. Although that was weeks ago so maybe it would be totally fine...
Mine doesn't have the rocking feature, but we use the vibrate feature all through the night. He will stay asleep in it without being on vibrate if I put him down asleep, but he needs vibrate to fall asleep in it on his own.

Ours doesn't have a rocking/vibrating/musical/ ect. feature. I'm actually glad since I probably would've relied on it and then would have to transition from using it.
Do Wubbanub's help keep the paci in LO's mouth or are they more for cuteness/comfort?
My baby takes the same kind of pacifier as the Wubbanub, but refuses the Wubbanub. I wish she would take it since its cute, easier to keep in her mouth and easier to find around the house.

Yes! Ours doesn't have any fancy stuff and that's probably best. Like abbeyd, it's one of my must have baby items!

I have one that doesn't rock that he sleeps in at night, and one that rocks that I turn on for his naps. I Tried to start transitioning to the bassinet before I started back at work but he kept breaking out of his swaddle and didn't sleep as well. Now I don't know when we will try again. He just sleeps so good!!
When you are using a stroller that the bucket seat clicks into, do you clip lo in all the way? I leave him clipped in when I'm out and about and transferring him in and out of the car, but sometimes he gets kind of hot so I loosen or unclip him.
My kid is almost 15 weeks. He is still spitting up a lot. When will this end?
I'm with you. All my kids have been spitters. My pedi said that 4 months Is usually the peak of it and it should improve after starting solids. DS1 spit up a ridiculous amount (we were referred to a pediatric gastroenterologist) and it finally resolved around a year.

If we are just going for a walk, I never buckle her in at all. I've never thought twice about it. Maybe I should? I figured she isn't going anywhere...

I was under the impression it didn't have anything to do with age. I thought it was just the baby.
Well, yeah, every baby is different, but as I said in the previous post, the pediatrician said that it peaks at 4 months and usually resolves by a year. I've found that to be true with my older boys. That's not a hard and fast rule but a general guideline.

Yea this is what I've been doing too. He can't go anywhere in the bucket seat... I mean I guess if the stroller fell or something?

Yeah but what if the stroller gets hit by something and tips? You may be very careful but not everyone else is.

Always buckled in. For some reason I'm most worried about the stroller tipping over and being strapped in would help the capsule buffer any fall. Otherwise he'd just fall straight out. I kind of think of it like a roll cage.

Also, I know that loose straps are considered a choking hazard, are undone straps also considered a choking hazard? I always strap DS in, I think that is what Car Seats for the Littles says to do. Plus it keeps him from slumping, so his airway is more open.
I always strap him in the car seat regardless of whether we're going in the car or on a walk. I've never really thought about it, I just do it.
I don't usually strap him in the swing, RNP, etc. should I be doing that based upon these posts about strangulation hazards?
I hope I did not come off as fear mongoring (sp?) The only reason I strap DS into the RNP or the swing is because DD likes to "help" rock or swing him, and can get a bit over zealous. I don't think that the set up of those straps would create a choking hazard.

I have just started strapping DS in the swing because he has begun leaning forward. He fell forward in my rocking chair when I was trying to take his 3 month pics.
S hates the car seat, but I used to let D sleep in it if she was already asleep. It scares me now.
I have also let DS continue to sleep in his car seat. Usually it's after coming home from work, so I put the car seat on the kitchen floor and wash all the bottles/pump parts, put any other dishes in the dishwasher, maybe prep dinner, until he wakes up.
I will say that that was super dumb of the daycare to swaddle the baby before putting him in the car seat. And then just leaving him in an empty room?

I always let dd sleep in her car seat when we get back inside. When she was tiny, I would put something under the bottom to slightly tilt it back. But if she's sleeping peacefully, I won't wake her. The article does make me think twice about it, but as jags said, swaddling, putting in a car seat, and leaving him alone was idiotic.
So LO just learned to roll from back to belly...but can't get back on her back. This worries me for when she's sleeping in bassinet at night. What can I do? Just wait for her to learn to roll back?

The baby won't stay asleep in her carseat, but I always let my 2 year old continue sleeping in it. I just put him in front of me while I watched TV or did dishes so I could watch him.

Same problem over here. He hasn't rolled in his crib yet though. I'm hoping he learns how to roll back to his back soon.
We were going to start transition to crib last night but then she rolled on belly and got stuck when H put her in bassinet so I got scared. Hope they learn soon
