NJ here, an hr and a half or less from NYC, Philly, the shore and skiing. Plus Taylor Ham, Wawa, local produce, and of course, the best damn pizza on the planet.
Also the home of the highest car insurance and property taxes in the nation, but I guess you take the good with the bad.
oldbaylover1024 Those are seriously the best cookies ever. My life was made when I found out I could order online. Might have to go order some today...
Virginia is mostly known for it's history, Smithfield Hams, peanuts & tobacco. We do have Wawa though! I also enjoy the fact that I can drive an hour to the beach, an hour to the mountains, and two hours to DC.

pivot - They really are. Did you hear a few years ago the Berger Family had to shut down production because they didn't have proper food licenses? They had been producing cookies for so long and, because they started as a family-owned/sell-in-local-stores company decades ago, they never obtained the right safety licenses?! The state wasn't at all worried about the quality/safety, but for a while they couldn't produce and had to pull them all from shelves. I remember looking for them in a convenience store and panicking because I thought they closed down or something LOL

oldbaylover1024 I have been wanting that pie since I saw it on Best Thing I Ever Ate on food network! I had no idea they shipped either!!! $30 seems like a lot for a pie, but I believe I am willing to make that commitment..

You will not regret it. Seriously, a thin slice goes a long way - it's very rich. But God, it's so good! We usually get two - one Baltimore Bomb and their toffee pie - for Easter or other holidays. OMG so good...

oldbaylover1024 I'm now a really sad pregnant lady because they in fact do not ship. I went to go order one and it's not an option I might just buy the Berger cookies and try to recreate the pie at home. Even if it's not exact it can't be bad right?!

MA here, home of the fig newton, Plymouth Rock (or as I like to call it, Plymouth Pebble), and the home of the first liquid fueled rocket. We have great seafood and Italian food too
oldbaylover1024 I was OK with $30, but I think $60 is a little much for pie I am however going to get some of the cookies shipped ($5.99) and attempt to make the pie myself!
Mmh.. mile high city! Awesome skiing! The Egg & I restaurant. Mmmhh.. I want one of their huge raspberry pancakes served with raspberry yogurt instead of syrup now.
Lived around Denver area for 8+ years if you're down by Colorado Springs, then you've got the cogwheel railroad

(Is it obvious that I miss a few things? ^_~)
I'm going to have to check these places out! I've never taken the cog railroad but I've heard it's worth the experience just like the narrow gauge one in Durango. So much to do here I just haven't done them all yet!
As a transplant from Illinois I would also have to say the original maid rite! And living in Nebraska now the runza's are definitely a regional thing, with ground beef, onions and cabbages baked in a bun. Not my favorite.
Southwest Michigan: Vernor's Ginger ale, all the seasons, huge lake with amazing beaches, fruit festivals, small cute towns but only 90 minutes from Chicago.
Creepin in yo bushes.
Lurky loo admin seconding all of the above, and adding Artprize to the list. Largest non-juried art contest in the world. It takes over for 3 weeks every year, and it's amazing.
Also, the botanical gardens, an assortment of zoos, and awesome camping

Boston here! Home of New England Clam Chowdah, the over educated professional student, east coast tech bubble, Red Sox nation, adorers of Tom Brady and Gronk, and accents that simply do not pronounce the letter "R". (Though many people are surprised to learn that 98% of Bostonians do not sound like that. My mother in law and step father in law are among those that do not pronounce "R". And I'm not going to lie. I'm definitely going to pick a baby name based on whether or not they'll be able to pronounce it correctly.)
Beaches, Del's Lemonade, Awful Awfuls, seafood to die for:)
Born and raised here, then lived in Boston for 12 years, and moved back in March to raise kids closer to family:) I love it here! How long have you been here?

A little over 2 years. I grew up in the suburbs of MA and after that I lived in the Boston area for a long time. MH's job is here and I just found something permanent, so we're going to settle down here. I wish it was a little closer to family, that would be great for raising kids!
