Hi ladies. I've been MIA this past week because it's been a pretty hectic/emotional time for our family.
Long story short, my MIL passed away last Wednesday.
Long story long:
Last Tuesday SIL called me in the a.m. because DH didn't answer his phone. She said MIL had taken a turn for the worse and we needed to get down there. I was able to get ahold of DH on his work phone and updated him. I was so nervous to have him drive home from his job site with him being upset, luckily he wasn't too far away. I called my mom to come watch DS.
It wasn't long before DH and I were on the road and we made great time. When we got there DH went to see her and she recognized him, so that was good. All day she was in and out of consciousness, they had started the hospice meds that morning. There was a couple times that day when we thought it was it but she still held on. DH's siblings were there (he's the youngest of 4) and MIL's siblings were coming in and out to visit.
I was surprised that she was still with us on Wednesday morning but she was holding on for something. That day her pastor came and prayed over her and with the family. Her best friend from out of state made it to see her. By this time she was not conscious at all.
That evening it was only her kids, husband and myself at the house. We were by her bedside listening to music for the memorial, they were reading her favorite scriptures and massaging her feet and hands. Bob Marley's One Love came on and FIL came dancing into the room. When he reached the foot of her bed, SIL had her hand on MIL's chest, and said "I think this is it you guys." And it was. She left peacefully surrounded by her children and husband. Although we are so very sad that she's gone, we feel so blessed that she wasn't in pain and was able to be at home with her loved ones. Her memorial is on Thursday.
This was epically long, sorry for the dear diary. I just didn't want to bring down any of the other threads.
