Dirty lurker coming out to say hi!

I've mostly been on "one and done" since the TD days, but seeing as how I'm getting married in 9 months and we're planning to TTC shortly thereafter, I figured I'd check in here!

What I'm mainly curious about is, going into TTC over 35, what are some things I should be prepared for? I have one daughter from my previous marriage -- she's 8 -- so obviously I was a lot younger then (I was 27, almost 28 when she was born). Even still, it took over a year to get pregnant with her.

With this next (hopeful) pregnancy, I'll be 37 when we start TTC. (Soon to be husband will be 42.) The obvious getting in shape, eating healthy, etc, are all part of the plan, but is there anything else I should expect to be different this time around?

I don't know what's different...I've only TTC as a "old lady" but I'd say try for a bit, maybe chart if you're into that stuff to find out info about your cycle and see if you can see patterns. But otherwise, congrats on your wedding and...enjoy working on TFAS!

Welcome! I'm new here, too. I would say nothing is really different when TTC at an older age. Doctors can start IF testing after 6 months if that's something you're wanting to pursue. But that's probably getting a bit ahead of yourself if you're 9 months out from trying. Otherwise it's all the same! Good luck!

Hello & welcome emmaswan!! Congrats on your upcoming nuptials- how exciting!!

I agree w/ PPs about charting (& OPKs) and the 6 month trying timeframe before pursuing other avenues. Since you mentioned getting in shape and eating healthier for you and soon to be H, I recommend reading "It Starts with the Egg" if you haven't already.

MH (51) & I (36) conceived naturally 3 times w/ in 15 months (first two resulted in losses), but this last time (current pregnancy) seemed to have happened pretty quickly - not sure if it was b/c we made lifestyle changes while reading the book or what Before getting KU this go round, I also started the CoQ10 + Vit D3 supplement combo to promote healthy egg quality (of course always check with your health care provider first before taking any supplements or meds). We have also been a BPA free household for several years, but I stopped microwaving any left overs in any type of plastic whatsoever - not even for 30 seconds. All of this is in the book

Thanks everyone for your input! I read TCOYF and did charting when I was TTC DD so I'm familiar with all of that. I guess it might be a good time to start so I know how my cycles trend...

obscurereference You're right, I'm putting the cart before the horse a bit. LOL. I'm just excited. I had some health issues when I was TTC DD and wound up being on modified bed rest for the last 8 weeks due to pregnancy hypertension. Most of it was weight related so I'm getting started now on making health improvements to hopefully have an easier pregnancy this time.
