My mother is an amazing cook with a super-hero worthy green thumb, my sister is a fantastic barista (she's won a few competitions in the past), and I'm pretty good in the kitchen. We've joked for years about opening a small restaurant (about 20 tables only), open Thursday to Sunday for dinner only with farm-to-table meals. The menu is constantly in rotation based on our likings and what's in season. We grow everything and source local, organic meats. My dad is a fantastic butcher, so he'd handle all the meat dealings. And MH is super-handy, so he'd help us renovate the old cottage setting we have in mind. We have a name and logo, too.

Where would you love to travel that you've never visited? Italy. MH's family is from the same place the Olympics were held a few years back, and they always talk about 'the old country'.

If you could time travel, where would you go and why? I'd travel 30 years into the future to see what my kid(s) are up to LOL Not necessarily to intervene, but to get a taste of their daily lives.

What's your favorite movie genre and favorite film within it? Ooo this is tough - I love movies. I guess I'd say comedy is my favorite genre, and The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Where did you honeymoon? Montego Bay, Jamaica, and it was amazing! I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Favorite holiday? Thanksgiving. I love to cook (and eat), so it's always been my favorite. My ILs also do the traditional Italian Thanksgiving with, like, a bagillion courses. OMG so good!

Biggest irrational fear? Flying. I know it's safer than driving, but dear God I hate it. But I'm really fun to fly with - I drink juuuuust over an appropriate amount of booze before take off LOL

You have a whole day to yourself - no kids or DH - and you have $1,000 what would you do? OMG no lie, my college roommates and I have dreamed of a $1,000 Day (what you described, except with each other)! I'd rent a car with a driver. Then, after plenty of mimosas, I'd go for a long massage, followed by a mani/pedi and a haircut. Then, take me to the outlets (we have some great local ones) for some high-end shopping on a budget. Then, drinks and apps for dinner at a fabulous restaurant overlooking the water. Drop me off at home after bed time so I don't have to parent at all that day.

What are your favorite dishes to make? I like cooking savory and sweet, so I'll give you my favorite for both. For savory easy, I love roasting anything! But my favorite unexpected item is radishes. When they're roasted, they're really sweet and have a delicious texture. Try roasting beets, radishes, multi-colored potatoes, and asparagus for a wonderful fall side dish (goes really well with pork or a baked chicken). For a more complicated savory, I love grataunt (sp?) - it's a spiced pork spread that you serve on buckwheat pancakes. My dad and I make my grandmother's recipe (so it's really my great-great grandmother's). SO GOOD.

Sweet dishes you can't go wrong with a good pineapple upside down cake or a chocolate cheesecake. Or, for an easy crowd pleaser...

Do you have anything that is easy but never fails to impress? Try these Candied Pecans. They're easy, make your house smell amazing, and they can be made in huge batches for gifts. NOTE: Whip the eggs A LOT - more than you think you should. Or try this Cannoli Dip. Warning - you won't come home with leftovers

notagoddess - I'm so serious about those last two recipes. I made the pecans as Christmas gifts last year and they were so well received I was requested to make them in place of birthday cakes twice. And I make a wicked chocolate cake with homemade buttercream icing.

Favorite TV character? Archer from Archer. He's such an ass, but he's a lovable ass. Marge from The Simpsons is a close second.

Celebrity crush - both male and female? Male - John Hamm (the Mad Men version... drool); Female - Kristin Bell. I want to have a drink with her and discuss mom problems, like too much laundry and sneaking wine into PTA meetings.

Ideal Friday night? Pajamas, kettle corn popcorn (with Old Bay butter), a martini, and a good movie. It's guaranteed I'll fall asleep on the couch before 10 p.m.

Pet peeve? Eating with your mouth open. OMG, I married an open-mouth eater (he had a serious jaw defect for years, which is now fixed via surgery). It's not all the time, but it drives me nuts. I will call you out on it, too. #noshameinmygame

Favorite season? Fall. My BFF calls me the definition of a Basic White Girl. But seriously... who doesn't like lattes, sweater weather, scarves, and jumping in leaves?!?!

ETA: Seriously. I would take the Fall Hater to a coffee shop to get a latte while wearing sweaters, buy them a scarf at Target, and then take them on a fall picnic. I dare you not to have a good time.

shellbell - I sure do have a KitchenAid mixer! It's blue, like this one:

ETA: We also have the hand mixer, blender, mixing utensils, strainer, and chopper in this blue. I can't wait to get a toaster and food processer in the blue! They're all on display (open shelving) in my kitchen.

What book have you read recently? Ha! I just started reading The Cursed Child last night. I'm halfway through it and I like it so far.

What is your favorite book? That's really tough. If there is one series I could read over and over it'd be Harry Potter. I also like classics like Pride and Prejudice and 1984.

If you could watch only one tv channel, what would it be? Probably something generic like ABC - I'd get news, shows, popular dramas, and movies. We stream all our channels, so I don't think I've watched a regular channel in about two years.
