bgkc4 is the flat spot noticeable to you? L definitely has a preference for her left side and like you, I try to reposition her and she's like "lolno" and goes right back. I don't see a spot but I'm still nervous.
I thought I noticed it a few weeks ago but wasn't sure. It was confirmed by the doctor (without me even mentioning it). It's minor and DH and my mom don't notice it, but I was looking out for it because I knew she had a preference for one side. Had I not been looking for it I wouldn't have noticed the difference, especially since C has a head full of thick dark curls. The pedi didn't seem overly concerned. If I were you I'd continue to correct her positioning no matter how tedious it gets.

bgkc4, I asked about the flat head issue on the private board. DS definitely has one, with a preference for turning his head to the left. I'm doing my best to reposition him but I feel like there is only so much I can do. He hates hates hates tummy time. I'm just trying the side-napping thing. So far no luck - he just squirms around a bunch until he can be on his back again. At a certain point I just have to let the poor baby sleep.

Do you nurse side lying at all? She knocks right out and finishes her nap on her side.

He doesn't really nurse to sleep anymore. He used to, but his pattern these days is eat-play-sleep-scream. Repeat.

It really is one of those "there's only so much I can do" situations. DD also prefers her left side. We initially suspected she had torticollis, but realized that she has no problem turning to the right, she just doesn't want to do it! Her pedi and the chiro both suggested neck exercises and for us to keep repositioning her. I also bought the fisher price chair someone on here recommended earlier this week, so hopefully that will help take pressure of her head since she'll be sitting up.
Can I just point out that I've filed more medical claims for this baby in two months than I've had for myself in the past 2 years. She's seen the pedi 4 times, a lactation consultant, a chiro and Friday she's seeing a pediatric dermotologist (she has a vascular birthmark on her forehead that's either a hemangioma or a port wine stain). Good thing I'm insured and that I no longer have a high deductible or a high co-insurance.

I had a strange conversation with my mil this afternoon. She called this afternoon and was asking about buying something for the baby and wanted to know what size she wore. I told her that if she was buying summer stuff she was wearing 0-3 but if she was looking at fall/winter stuff 3-6. Then she says that it's a gift for her baptism (in 3 weeks) and what size will she wear then? I'm like, um, the same?
C had her 2 month shots today. She did pretty well but she's been cranky ever since. I feel bad because I realize her leg might be sore for a few days. I'm trying to console her as best possible.
Doctor said she's developing a bit of a flat head on one side. She definitely has a preference for her right side and has turned her head/neck in that direction since birth. Pedi thinks she was laying that way in the womb and developed a preference. I've been instructed to direct her towards the other side, but that's easier said than done. She moves her head right back when I turn her neck to the left. I feel like I have a month to break this habit before she starts daycare because I don't trust that the daycare providers will spend the day correcting her position (though I could be wrong).
We had this with DS, they were talking about a helmet, but it mostly resolved by 4 months! It's so hard to constantly be looking at what side their head is turned to!

My LO has a preference too. We do some repositioning, and when I hold him during naps it's easier because he'll lean against me regardless of the side. We also started switching which end of the bassinet we put his head toward, so that he turns a different way to see me.
txmommy14 and bgkc4 When did you start noticing the flat spot? I remember noticing with ds1 but don't remember when. His was on the back of his head but was fine and never an issue. I haven't noticed it with ds2 but he's only 6 weeks.

I started noticing it around 6 weeks, but like I said, it was so small that I wasn't sure whether it was just me or actually a flat spot.

DD doesn't have one (probably because she's fussier than DS was so I'm holding or carrying her more). With DS, they mentioned it at his 2 month appt!
After DD finally got down, she slept a good stretch, but then my two year old woke up at 5am screaming. Whhhhhy?? DH is home tonight so I'm on my own for bed and baths, etc. too.
I want to donate some breast milk but I heard you can't donate if you've had ANY alcohol and I've had maybe one glass of wine a week.

Could you guys use a small pillow and prop them on their right side?

Like any alcohol the whole time your are breastfeeding?!? If that is true how do they get any donations??

Haha she sounds kind of like my MIL! When is her baptism? Ours is in a few weeks too!!

I don't remember this requirement from last time but I just avoid drinking while BF so I don't have to worry about it. I'm obviously not a big drinker anyway so it's easier for me to just wait a year. You could just not donate milk pumped within 24 hours of drinking.
Is there an 9 week growth spurt? Holy eating machine baby.....I'm tired.
Yes. It was rough. He went on a nap strike, cluster fed all day, and went from sleeping 6 hour stretch at night to waking every 2-3hrs. We're just over 10 weeks now and it seems to be better the past few days.
