This rubs me the wrong way

Edited to remove company details: A local company posted on FB saying "We're adopting" with a link to a posting to two job openings. 

Update: I emailed them letting them know that their wording rubbed me the wrong way and they replied right away and changed it to say "we're hiring." Yay!

So, this is just for hiring someone? I think if nothing else, it's really lame and doesn't really make sense. I think it is also insensitive. I just don't understand the point of wording a job post this way. Are the owners your parents then? Because if the point is to say that the company is a family just say that.

Yeah, it's just to say they are hiring for two positions. I clicked on the link and it describes the jobs and tells you how to apply. It doesn't make much sense and it dumb. When I first saw the picture come up on my FB feed I thought it was someone announcing that they are adopting because I saw the "we're adopting" right away. Nope, just a business hiring..

I've never heard of hiring someone as "adopting," and I think wording it that way is inappropriate and insensitive. It seems like they probably made those posts to get more attention and peak peoples interest, but it's really not ok to make light of adoption in this way.

I messaged the company and they responded right away apologizing and changed both posts to just say "we're hiring". I let them know I really appreciated it and now I feel great about continuing to support their business. :-)

I agree that is a ridiculous way of posting a job! Good for you for following up with them, and helping them to understand how that can be viewed as insensitive (or stupid! Lol) and that is great that they listened to your feedback and took immediate action. Those are the types of businesses and companies to be proud of. If you feel comfortable, perhaps you can share what the business is now (considering I can really appreciate their ability to be human and acknowledge a mistake) .

I think it is important for us to help educate those around us on positive adoption language, but it can be challenging. I am still struggling with finding an appropriate way to let DS2's pediatrician that referring to his birth mother as his 'natural mother' is offensive to me as his adoptive mother. If she is the 'natural mother' what does that make me? In my books we are both natural beings and both mothers. Sigh. Apparently I still have lots of feelings about this! Lol

The business is a local tap room/brewery.  DH, E and I will be going there for beer and a food truck dinner tomorrow night since I'm so pleased with their response.

I would definitely say something to your pediatrician. It might be awkward but will make you feel better for just saying something and also for her/his hopeful change in language. I tend to be mildly outspoken (sometimes to the embarrassment of my DH). As long as it's said in a nice/educational way, I bet your pediatrician will appreciate it since s/he likely hasn't thought about the language.
