Just got back from dinner with in laws. It was a nice time and I took the third bottle of wine I got. But MIL kept saying when we were fixing plates to remember that there were 9 and half people eating. I feel like if you're hosting and tell everyone not to bring anything then you should fix enough food so everyone can eat their fill.

Yikes. Sorry but that's tacky! I totally agree, if you are hosting, you need to make sure you have enough food. I am super notorious for have WAY too much food when hosting. Like I just had some lasagna for dinner tonight from an impromptu dinner with my parents and in-laws!
We were actually at a bday party for my friends DD, and I kinda felt like she didn't really have that much (mind you it wasn't dinner, but late afternoon...and then she asked if M got enough to eat...Um no all you had was crackers/dip and some fruit skewers). Anyways I hope no one was left hungry at the dinner tonight.

After nursing for 12 months I think I might be getting mastitis, so that blows. Feeling totally crappy but my breast isn't as sore as I would have expected for mastitis.
C cried for 45 mins and was do worked up I rocked him to sleep 30 mins ago. He has already woken up crying and was sitting up. Fx this isn't a prediction of my night.

I'm the same, I cook way to much food! M's party was at a non meal time, but there was tons of food still.
I don't check with thermometer when sleeping. I use my hand or wait for him to wake up. Because sleep is a good thing when sick, let him sleep undisturbed. A good night's sleep does wonders. But honestly, I'd be ready to give a dose of Tylenol when he wakes up.
The fever hasn't gone down yet but he's ready for bed. I hate that I won't be able to check his temp when he's sleeping. Does anyone have a forehead thermometer they like to use when LO's are sleeping?
A fever isn't always a bad thing. It's the body fighting something (very high fevers aside). If LO is acting normally and sleeps normally I wouldn't check while they sleep. Sleep is also great for them to fight whatever is going on.
I feel like I've been run over by a truck. To those of you who have had mastitis in the past year, I'm sorry I wasn't more supportive.
You need antibiotics ASAP if you have mastitis. You have all my sorries. I felt like death when I got it after my twins were born and lived in fear of getting it again for the first few months after Abigail was born. It's awful.
Can you find a clogged duct where it started? There may be a hot, red spot. If you can, try getting in a hot shower and running a soapy comb towards the nipple to try to break up the clog. I have also found that it helps to lay baby down on a bed and lean over them so your breast is above them while you're nursing. That and trying different positions (e.g. football) has worked for me in the past.
I would recommend calling your OBGYN when they open in the morning to get antibiotics, or maybe even going to the ER if you can't wait until morning. It can get bad very quickly. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.
@mrspanpan, I hope the fever comes down. I have a forehead thermometer, I think it's the Exergen Temporal Thermometer. It's not bad. It does make noise though. You can probably tell a lot just by feeling his forehead. Sleep is probably the best thing for him. If his fever is rising, he will likely wake up because he's uncomfortable and you can check his temp and dose him with Tylenol then.
