No but I plan to talk to the pediatrician about it at R's appointment later this week. His spit up continues to be an issue and it seems to be bothering him more now than it has before.
What I have heard about Zantac is that the dose needs to be adjusted as the baby gains weight. Prevacid isn't like that - it's the same dose regardless of weight.
Both of my boys were on Prevacid for reflux. Does he seem uncomfortable with all the spit up?
Not that I am aware. I thought she told me earlier it doesn't help spit up. I wasn't asking for it. I just mentioned how he is soaking multiple shirts a day and asked when it gets better.
Yeah, medication doesn't help with the volume of spit up. It just helps neutralize the stomach acid and gives their esophagus some relief. I'm surprised that she would prescribe that of he's not in pain because of it. Also, I don't know what your insurance is like, or if things have changed, but the Prevacid was pricey - $35 a month iirc. Totally worth it to help your kid if he's suffering - but not if it's not necessary.
minae01 were your boys uncomfortable from the reflux all along? From birth? Spitting up never bothered R until recently. Now he cries/screams and flails his body. Not all the time but most. I don't know if it just became painful or what's going on. If that makes sense.

DS1 was a happy spitter, so it didn't bother him at all. He just spit up so much that the pedi wanted to make sure it stayed that way. It was preventative so that he wouldn't be uncomfortable with all that acid constantly coming up. DS2 was colicky and definitely seemed to be in pain.
I think that you should ask your pedi. It wouldn't hurt to try it out and see if it helps him.

Thanks for sharing. I appreciate the information. He has an appointment on Thursday. I'm hoping to get him some relief.
