My kid is a bottomless pit this morning. She's had a go-gurt, an English muffin, an applesauce pouch, mini muffins and just went and got another applesauce.
Making up for yesterday when she hardly ate anything I guess.

Thanks, guys. I thought about leaving work and working from home, but MH is starting mini-construction on our house today, so the last place I want to be is there.
We're redoing our master bedroom - the whole thing. Installing closet organizers, removing a wall of wallpaper (only one wall the previous owners then painted over - WTAF?!), painting the walls and trim, rehanging a door so it swings the other way... We bought new furniture this past weekend, and I'm shopping window treatments and bedding this weekend... All this so we can move rooms around and get kids situated.
Today is remove wallpaper and paint the closets day. I think he's planning to actually install the closet organizers, too, which is nuts. Our closet is almost 9' long and about 13'-14' high inside. LOTS of room to play. He's very handy, so I know he can do it.
But hell if I'm gonna be there in his way... Nope. Nope nope nope.
ETA: J's getting our old furniture and moving to the guest room; Sweat Pea is gonna get the nursery (J's old room), and my office is transitioning to an office/guest room. The furniture swapping and lack of organization is what made us do this.

I'm not sure what we will be doing with DD and LO2 as far as rooms and beds go. DD will be 21 months when #2 arrives and I don't know if she'll be ready for a toddler bed then. If she is, we can reuse the crib. This is all new and I don't want to think about it yet!
Post by oldbaylover1024 on Aug 9, 2016 8:26:13 GMT -5
We were lost on what to do, too, sweetieheart32. J will be 3.5 by the time Christmas rolls around, so she's ready for a full size bed. She's been in a toddler bed for over a year now, and is outgrowing it. Plus, she's never ever in the guest room, so she'll have no idea it's all made up for her. The idea is to move/set up all the furniture in her new room as a Christmas gift from Santa
And this eliminates the need for new nursery furniture. The crib we have is in great shape and converts to a full-size bed. Sweat Pea can keep it.
AND we received a brand new queen mattress for free about a year ago, so that's what MH and I will upgrade to. We've been in a full bed our entire marriage and I'm soooo ready for more room!

oldbaylover1024 you are going to love that bigger bed! DH and I had to upgrade early on and I don't think we could survive in anything smaller than a queen.

oldbaylover1024, That sounds like so much work! I hope you love how everything comes together when it's done. And I'm sorry you're puking
We had to do a lot of rearranging when we had DS (move office since my H works from home, move guest room, paint everything, etc.), but I'm kind of regretting not doing more work then. Now we have to move DS upstairs, which means moving the guest room again, packing up most of my craft supplies, putting a door on, probably more gates, painting furniture, etc. I'm hoping that DS will still be in his crib by the time baby 2 is born (he'll be 19 months), so we'll probably buy one off craigslist - or from ikea. We want to move him up there before the new baby comes, though, so that he doesn't feel like he's being booted out of his room and replaced. I don't know if moving him early will help that or not, but I figure it's worth a shot...

shawnabm1320 - Our house was built in the 1950s. We did a ton of cosmetic work when we moved in - mainly painting and changing some smaller things outside, like the gardens and fencing. The previous owners upgraded the kitchen, 1st floor powder room, 1st floor carpeting/kitchen floor, and they remodeled the master bath. The last big project we did was painting this dark wood paneling in J's playroom (technically the formal dining room). It took a week, layers and layers and layers of paint, and a TON of patience. Totally worth it though. It looks amazing!!!
The stuff upstairs is the 'big' stuff. We're tackling the cosmetic (paint mainly) stuff now. But we have 5 different types of flooring up there - two rooms of laminate wood, the guest room and hallway have one type of carpet, and the master has another type of carpet, then the bathrooms both have different tile. It's crazy! In about 5 years we'll recarpet the whole 2nd floor (MH doesn't want hardwood in the bedrooms - whatever). I refuse to replace flooring (read: spend the money) until our kids are a little older. Let 'em destroy the old stuff. Oh yeah, and we're installing ceiling fans in the four rooms upstairs this fall.

oldbaylover1024, We have similar houses, I think! Ours was also built in the '50's. Apparently the original owner built it "one piece at a time..." The flooring is different in all the rooms downstairs; there was wood paneling in almost every room downstairs as well. There was even wood paneling with hunting scenes on it! We have painted almost every room at this point, we sanded and re-did the floors, painted all the cabinets in the kitchen, put in new counter tops and sink and tiled the floor, painted and installed new lighting in the upstairs rooms. Oh, and we did a lot of work in the enclosed porch so that it could be a livable space - flooring, better ceiling, paint, trim, etc. We still have to remodel the bathroom, the second story stairs, and H is building cabinet doors for the kitchen (we have curtains right now). And install trim, because we took it off to redo the floors and never put it back in 2/4 of the rooms! Lol.
It's a never ending process! But it's a little fun. I kind of like it
sweetieheart32 How exciting to be feeling flutters! oldbaylover1024 Ah good luck on the reno! It can be so stressful during but SO worth it in the end!
I can't even concentrate on work today because I am going to my favorite little Italian place for lunch and all I can think about is their bruschetta and caprese panini

Kudos to all you who have figured out room arrangements with your second LOs. We are still trying to decide what to do. DS will be 2 when this LO is born. We were thinking of transitioning him to a toddler bed around Christmas. DH wants to move DS out of his room to the one next door and put LO in DS's room. It's really not that much difference, so I want to keep DS in his room. I'm worried about him transitioning to being a big brother. Either way we have to move the guest room to the office. I'm not looking forward to it, especially because the office also has DH's drum set. It's going to be tight!
Work is still crazy, but I'm less nauseous. We announced at church this Sunday (I'm the pastor), congregation is excited. Apparently I'm the first pastor to have a baby while serving this church, which is astonishing given the church is 70 years old. It feels good to not have the secret any more. No one can judge my office naps now!

I'm so jealous of your hardwood floors, shawnabm1320. We don't have any - only plywood under carpet. Womp womp. But it's funny... I'm not as opposed to the carpet as I thought I'd be. I kind of like it upstairs in the bedrooms, and for now it's fine on the main floor. Our kitchen basically 'T's the whole 1st floor, so there's laminate in 2/3 of the house. And the rooms with carpet deserve carpet - living room and playroom. Eventually, if we stay here 'forever', we can install hardwood, but for now it works. And the new carpet is still under warranty so destroy away, children! LOL
musicallyinclined - How fun! You're congregation is going to spoil you rotten! I imagine lots of crocheted/knitted items LOL When my mom was PG with me, she received TONS of handmade blankets from her church ladies. They're beautiful, and she still has them. She said she'll hand them down as J and Sweat Pea get older.

Good morning ladies! Not too much going on here today. Today's my last day to get the house ready. Our photos are tomorrow, eek! I'm so nervous about putting our house up for sale still not knowing when the new house will be done. You all have made me think about the room situation when new baby comes. I guess I figured B would be out of the crib by the time baby comes but he'll only be 21 months. I hope I don't have to buy a new crib!!

oldbaylover1024, we have 3 other babies due in September in the congregation, there are so many crocheted things for them. It's awesome. I'm looking forward to hopefully receiving some too!
I'm 99% sure my kids will be sharing a room. We have 3 bedrooms but we have one set up as H's comupter room and guest room. DD has the smaller bedroom right now. We have absolutely nowhere to put any office stuff in the rest of the house. So my plan right now is to re-do the computer room and move DD in there and move the baby in when baby is sttn.
I'm not looking forward to all the work. Ugh.
Right now we have the front rail of DD's crib removed since she was climbing out. We put a lower rail on so she doesn't fall out of bed at night. She'll be about 2.5 when new baby comes. Crib converts in to a full size bed. Do we get DD a new bed and use her crib for the baby or keep is as it is and get a new crib? I'm thinking it'll be cheaper to just get her a new bed right?
So I'm on the train. This lady gets on and she's face timing with I guess her bf bc she keeps talking in a baby voice and kissing the screen! Like what?!? She is also holding the phone out at arm's length and WONT STOP KISSING THE SCREEN. WHAT?! You're in public lady!

@elodin - Based on what I saw this weekend furniture shopping, it may be cheaper to buy a crib for new baby and convert DD's crib to a full bed. It'll at least save you the cost of buying a new bed. I think a new bed is going to cost you more than a new crib.
Or even better - buy DD a bunk bed, keep the crib for new LO, and down the road the kids can share a room via bunk beds. Use the convertible crib for the full-size guest bed. Since it sounds like they may share a room, bunk beds may be the way to go! There are some on Amazon Prime - I shopped them for J.
ETA: Obviously, at 2.5 I'd remove the ladder to the top bunk and just let DD sleep on the bottom bunk. By the time LO#2 is ready to sleep in a bed, DD can sleep on top and LO#2 can sleep on bottom.
