Hello everybody! My husband and I bought a house a little less than a year ago. Every room in the house is painted white with (fake) hardwood floors in the living room and bedrooms and grey tile in the bathroom and kitchen.
We've been planning on painting for awhile and have about decided every color except for our two spare bedrooms. I've been looking up neutral bedroom schemes and considered just leaving the rooms white but I want the rooms to be welcoming...
I'm incredibly indecisive but I have plenty of time. We are planning to do foster care within the next year or so but haven't even contacted our agency yet. We plan to be open to all ages and genders and would like to take sibling groups so the rooms will most likely end up being shared.
So what color are your bedrooms? Would love pics! Did you paint before or after your kids/baby came home? Pretty much tell me everything! I've been reading setting up kids' bedroom guides on Pinterest forever but I wanted to hear from real people and thought it might be a fun GTKY!

Fun fun fun! I love decorating and often am doing it on a super tight budget because I'm cheap! Lol! So we had one extra room when we started our journey into adoption. We decided to swap the extra room and DS1'S room, so the room for our future child needed to be painted. We intended to do something super neutral at first but then sort of got carried away. We were in a similar situation where our age range was wide (0-6yr) and possibly a sibling set of 2. Obviously we had no clue on gender. We ended up using a deeper grey paint I had left over from an accent wall in my living room (in the picture it almost looks a little green, but it's dark grey with a brown base). Then we got a map of the world mural (felt it was super neutral, gender/age/culture etc.). All the furniture was up-cycled (expect for a glider chair I bought when we were matched). It has a pretty cozy, shabby chic (maybe a little more shabby and a little less chic! Lol) but we love it. Like I mentioned I had every intention of not decorating and waiting too meet our child (if they were older, could help decorate), but in the end I'm glad we did decorate because we didn't have that much time to prepare once we were matched. And the theme will grow with him. I will look for a picture.

We painted the two guest bedrooms when we bought our house 6 years ago. At that point we didn't know what our family would look like but we knew we wanted to have kids in the future. So we painted one bedroom a pale buttery yellow and the other a pale sage green, which were both colors that I liked and gender/age neutral.
When we actually started preparing for our placement last summer, we made the yellow room into the "kids room" and kept the green room as a guest bedroom. I did a bumble bee theme and found a cute bumble bee crib bedding set that coordinated with the bedding I already had for the twin bed. It's mostly pale yellow, white, sage green, and light brown/beige, with some orange accents.
We were open to any age and sibling group so we painted the room teal. We got bunk beds and put shades of blue bedding for them and decorated very neutrally. With our first placement, we knew we would have him for a long time (he's lived with us about a year now) and so we let him make it a little more his own. We actually never got around to painting our other bedroom before we got our next placement, so we were able to decorate it specifically for the kids. I want to paint it the same teal color as the other bedroom. I am obsessed with blue and green and all the shades in between though so that kind of affects everything in our house.

Love hearing about your rooms! We definitely want the colors of the rooms to complement each other so we can share bedding or perhaps even decor. I'm loving the idea of perhaps yellow for one room and some form of green for the other room. I need to hire an interior decorator!
Our kids' room was a light blue so we bought bedding in patriotic red, white and blue themes. We figure it works for either sex and the girls are fine with it.

We've started on the nursery, slowly and a little at a time. DH wants to build all the furniture himself, and he started with built in closet shelving, so the closet is completely finished.
The walls are a light grey, and we've picked out navy and turquoise as the major colors. Depending on the sex of the baby, we'll add in other colors after placement. We've bought some wall art to hang up, but only 2 things are hanging at the moment (4 more to go)...we're going with a travel theme and focusing on some of our favorite places around the world that we've been to before.
Otherwise, that's about it. Not too much has gone on in there, but we hope to have it finished prior to match, and definitely prior to placement. I have a feeling the last thing I'll want to do with a newborn is decorating a room.

Our spare bedroom is already a teal color which I like so we are leaving that as is. I am adding browns and jungle animals into the room for the "theme" and have found bedding at a rummage sale that fit it-including valences for the windows. Still have to get some shade of brown window curtains but it is coming together as we get closer to be licensed.
